No outgoing mail

I've used outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net port 25 for years and now all of a sudden it doesn't work.

I've tried all the other ports and tried a port scan. Port 25 is open for outgoing.verizon.net but there are NO ports open for outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net.

There has got to be a problem with this server but there's nothing posted and tech support seems clueless.

Any one?

I experienced the same problem today and changing the outgoing server port to 587 solved my problem. Thank you for the tip

changing to port 587 did NOT work for me.

I was still unable to send email from my @verizon.net account. So I changed the router settings to Low Security and now email can be sent using outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net.

So what does this mean? I had been using Medium Security on the router for years with no problem. So what was unblocked at Low that was blocked on Medium Security?

I started having the same problem tonight. SMTP stopped working on all accounts on all the laptops using the router. It worked after setting the firewall to low. I didn't want to leave it set to that. I think I found a workaround (at least it works for me.) on the Actiontec MI424WR Router. 1) Login to the router. 2) Go to Advanced > Port Forwarding Rules. 3) Click "Modify" for the SMTP protocol. 4) Click "Add Server Ports". 5) On the "Edit Service Server Ports" Set Protocol to TCP, Source Ports: Any, and Destination Ports: Single, 587. 6) Make sure none of the exclude boxes are checked. 7) Click "Apply". 😎 Send a Test email. I couldn't send after I set my firewall back to medium, as soon as I clicked "Apply" after setting up the port forwarding rules the emails in my out box instantly went.
