What is the make and model of your scanner? How is the device connected to your pc?

Why not just scan the document to a file on the computer, then attach the file to an email and send it that way? Simple, easy, and many (most?) scanners will scan directly to a PDF which makes viewing documents on the receiving end easy to read.
