Verizon email on surface rt

Has anyone been able to get outlook 2013 on a surface rt to work with verizon email? I have had no luck. Is there any tricks anyone knows on how to get it to work?

These are the settings you need.

Mail server settings

Incoming mail server (POP3😞 pop.verizon.net
Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
Outgoing mail server (SMTP😞 smtp.verizon.net
Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465
Your Verizon Online user name
Your Verizon Online password
Make sure "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is checked.

As a side note, please don't use POP if you plan to connect more than one device to your e-mail account. POP is a one machine only protocol. Any other use of POP is sloppy.

That's the settings that I have. I can log onto the server, but then I get an error when it tries to send a test email. Gives a timeout while waiting for smtp server.
