Can't change Verizon Yahoo email password or unlink from Yahoo

I have a graduate degree & am pretty computer literate, but can't change my email password. I keep getting routed to the member center, where I can change my password for my Verizon user ID, which has no effect on my Verizon Yahoo email. I spent over 9 hours with 4 Verizon agents & 1 Yahoo agent (who said it was a Verizon issue). The Verizon agents were not able to fix the problem & kept passing the buck (to Yahoo), hanging up on me, or telling me assinine things like I must have a virus. I was also told that if I got rid of Verizon Yahoo, I would lose that email account. I would suggest anyone who is having similar issues with Verizon Yahoo to file a complaint with the Public Utilities Commission, as I did!

You will need to call back in again. The email address you are having an issue with is xxxxx@verizon.net. If it is @yahoo.com you will need yahoo to fix. A password change should go thru pretty quick, but it could take an hour. If you still cannot get into email call in and get the tech on the phone to refer to the department that handles emails. This will not be the person on the phone! all they can do is reset the password. Some email issues can be fixed while you are on the phone. If not they will create a ticket for the email team to work on and call you back when fixed.

I finally got the problem resolved. My advice here is to do a live chat. For some reason, live chat was not available when I first had the issue. I went out of the state the next day & live chat was offered through my laptop. Here is an email I sent to Verizon that sums up my experience:

I recently had a problem where when I changed my Verizon password, it was not transferring over & changing my email password, which I get through the Verizon-Yahoo mail portal. On 5/29/14 I spent many hours trying to resolve this issue, & had spoken to 4 Verizon agents on the phone & 1 Yahoo agent (who confirmed it was a Verizon issue). The Verizon agents first didn't fully listen to me, passed the buck (either by saying it's a Yahoo issue or that I must have a computer virus), hung up on me, told me things that insulted my intelligence (like the problem was because Safari was saving my password), & finally that there was nothing they could do. The next day (5/30/14) I spent many more hours investigating the problem & then did an online live chat, where I finally got an agent who "listened" & treated my problem with a sense of urgency. He investigated the issue & found that there was a glitch with Verizon. The glitch had been resolved, so he then stayed with me until the password could be changed & made sure it transferred to the Verizon-Yahoo email portal before he disconnected with me. His name was "Israel" & his employee number is z421336. Verizon needs more employees like this, as I was ready to cancel my service after my previous experiences!

I can't believe this is an ongoing issue. I just spent 7 hours on live chat and on the phone with Verizon and 4 hours with Yahoo---most of the time on hold with Yahoo, which does not offer live chat. Verizon insisted it was a Yahoo problem. Yahoo said it was a Verizon problem. Now Verizon says it's a yahoo problem. I can't change my Verizon/Yahoo email account password. I can't believe this problem has not been fixed. The supervisor at Verizon refused to allow me to speak to a manager and would not provide me with any contact information so that I could communicate with her (ther supervisor). My e-mail account has been compromised and all I asked to do was change the password. I changed my passwords on every other online account I have (e-mail, credit card, paypal, ebay, etc). Each password change took 45-90 seconds. But Verizon/Yahoo can't accomplish a simple request in 11 HOURS??!? This is beyond ridiculous.

After 14 HOURS online and on the phone with Verizon, including 2 calls with supervisors: It's now been 13 days and I still cannot change the password on my e-mail account. Verizon does not care one bit about customers. It is the WORST service. I only need to change the password on my Verizon/Yahoo e-mail account. WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED??!?!?

Hi sisyphusstone,

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

I am having the same issue. Verizon is telling me it's yahoo's problem and yahoo keeps telling me to reset my password. I have done this 17 times today and still it will not access. I pay Verizon for my email not Yahoo. How do you fix this. I need my email to work.

Im having the exact same problem. started yesterday, thursday. Its the same on all 3 computers in the house. Strange though that my wife is not having the problem and she can log into her yahoo mail from the computor that I can not log into. I been working with the on-line agent and he had me change PW's several times - no luck. Finaly he told me the mail server is down. Odd, cause my wife can log in still. What next?
