Is anyone in the Washington area with VHO4 getting CSN+ yet? The overflow programming starts on Saturday 10-10, and VHO9 in Richmond still has MASN2 (showing ESPNEWS forever and ever) on channel 1. Verizon carried CSN+ on VHO4 last year, but I don't think it was anywhere else. Since I know there's a carriage agreement in place, I'm hoping to see CSN+ arrive on VHO9 and VHO9a this year. This is great news! According to the CSN website, CSN+ is channel 334 in Howard, Anne Arundel, and Baltimore Counties, as well as in the Tidewater and Richmond areas and it's on channel 1 in Fredericksburg, Charles, Montgomery, and Prince Georges Counties.

I just spent about 30 minutes on the phone with Verizon trying to ask for this channel. First, the call taker didn't know what it was. She transferred me to a guy in the "fiber solutions center", who didn't know what I was talking about, and even tried resetting my boxes because he somehow got the idea that I wasn't getting some channels. I explained to him that I was merely asking for a channel, and he started that old line "let's see, we carry ESPN and.....". No, I told him that all I wanted to do was make a simple carriage request for a channel that's carried on VHO4, but not VHO9 or VHO9a. The guy then told me that he didn't know what a VHO was, so I explained it to him. After several minutes back and forth on hold, he came back and told me that I needed to call my local business office at 410-265-0577. I asked him if there was a simple request that he could make to someone, and he said no. I had to call this number.

I called the next number, and I was put on hold again. When this guy came back, he said that he did not know of a way to submit a channel request, but he would look in to it. He said something about adding the channel if there's a demand for it, but how can there be demand if anytime someone calls about it, they're sluffed off and told that there's no way to make a request????

I've sent PM's to a couple employees on this board about this, and have not even gotten a response from them.

about the only way to request a channel that is not currently carried by Verizon. Is to post it here. Most of the people that you talk to on the phone will have no way to submit your request. Especially those guys in the "fiber solution center". they are tech support and dont have access to any ordering or request systems. If you are supposed to get it, and dont, they can fix it (ok no rubs from the peanut gallery here) but they cant request new content. And most of the people at the orders department, dont even know the channels they already carry let alone ones that they dont. The guys here on the board are above average. They dont get paid to be here but they still visit and help out of the goodness of their hearts and most seem to be really up on their game. So the post you made here about the channel will get up the chain eventually and slowly but it will go. But even then, dont hold your breath, Verizon is very slow at adding more channels. Even the ones with a huge request (I.E. BBC America HD). But rest assured has been requested on your behalf.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think it would be such a big deal to get it since CSN+ is carried by Verizon elsewhere in the CSN footprint. I got both channels with Comcast, but I'm not going to switch and go back in time with cable.

It would help customer service-wise if the CSR's were simply able to submit new channel requests for customers. Verizon has a very bad reputation for bad customer service, which (by my experience) they deserve. Simple things like this could help the service experience for a lot of people.

Last year when there were conflicting schedules with the wizards and caps and they shoved the caps on CSN+ they would usually put it on channel 1, not sure if there is actually a CSN+ channel by it's self.

As a huge Washington Caps fan here in Howard County, MD, I have become HIGHLY irritated that I am missing games now. One last week and two this upcoming weekend! What gives?! Can someone please tell me why we do not get CSN+? It's absurd to think that Montgomery County has it, but we do not!? I really want answers here. And if I officially need to request this channel, well here it is:

I have been a long time Directv customer, since 1995. I switched to FIOS yesterday 11-3-2009 to find out the FIOS in Harford County or Baltimore County does not carry CSN+. I am not happy. I see the the guide list 3 CSN channels 76, 576 (HD), and 1525 (which shows the exact samething as ch 76). One of the reasons for switching to FIOS was the VS conflict with Directv. Now I find out that I will miss more Washington Capitals games by having FIOS.

I just spent a LONG time on the phone with Verizon and spoke to a couple different people. The second guy really knew what he was talking about. Here is the answer:

CSN+ and MASN2 are no longer available to us in Howard Co. Period. He was very definitive about it.

FiOS Howard county customers lost CSN+ and MASN2 in the recent channel shuffle. There is now nothing carried on channels 1 through 7. I asked if we would get them back and he said he saw nothing in the long term planning that shows CSN+ Mid Atlantic or MASN2 returning. I asked if he was sure and he said yes, he has access to all programming planning going forward for "several months."

He suggested I subscribe to NHL Center Ice.

I further asked who I could talk to in terms of giving feedback to management. He said there's no mechanism for doing that to have any effect on programming. He said they determine programming through surveys and if they dropped CSN+ then "there was a reason for it" based on their surveys.

So we're hosed. I strongly suggest that if you want hockey/basketball on CSN+ and/or baseball on MASN+ you should call during business hours. When you finally manage to explain the difference between CSN and CSN+ (lol) and they tell you they don't see it listed, you should ask to talk to someone who can tell you if there are plans to carry it. They will pass you on to the billing dept. That is where I got to talk to the guy who knew what he was talking about.

Please be sure to be polite. They are not the decision makers; they're just Verizon employees doing their jobs.

Thanks for this info -- though it's not exactly what I wanted to hear. A survey huh? I never saw any kind survey. Who did they survey? Households who only get the basic FIOS service?? This is complete and utter **bleep**. Additionally, I guarantee that if I had NHL Center Ice, the Caps games would be blacked out anyway. It happened during the free preview week, why would it not continue to happen.

I'll be calling not only Verizon to complain vehemently, but I'll be calling CSN as soon as possible too. I hope everyone who wants their Caps and Wizards will do the same.

When I called Verizon they said they didn't know anything about it, and just gave me 3 more free months of HBO and Cinemax. Even if they didn't have a "dedicated" channel for CSN+, couldn't they just put the games that are overflow on another channel like CSPN3 or some other channel people don't care about most of the time? Missing Wizards and Caps games because my cable provider can't be bothered to provide a channel when they have so many junky channels does not make me happy. Now if the real story is that Comcast isn't offering it to them, that would be another story. I doubt that since Fios has CSNHD.

As for MASN2, the channel disappeared for the winter, but don't sweat that. MASN requires every carrier to have both channels as part of their agreement, so it will be back in time for baseball.

As for CSN+, I just don't understand why it can be shown in the DC Metro area on channel 1, but further away, we're left with nothing. I'm happy to have lots more channels with Verizon, but how about giving us one of the more important ones with exclusive live content? Especially since there is a carriage agreement already...... I, too, have been complaining about the lack of CSN+ in my area--for the 2+ years since I first got FiOS...and everytime I call I get the "We add new channels all the time..." and "You're a valued customer..." lines; then I get offered free HBO and things like that...I DON'T WANT FREE HBO!!! I WANT TO BE ABLE TO WATCH THE CAPS WHEN THEY'RE ON CSN+!!! Today was the first time a CSR told me to come here to request a channel--so that's what I'm doing. CenterIce doesn't do me a bit of good for Caps games due to blackout.

I have talked to three friends of mine who also have had it with Verizon not carrying CSN+, and are also contemplating switching back to Comcast (myself included)...As you can see, Verizon, you are starting to lose customers over this...do you want to become like DirectTV who have lost TONS of clients due to the whole VERSUS fiasco?

Nothing for the rest of us in areas served by VHO4, VHO9, and VHO9a. Baltimore, Richmond, and Norfolk are left out, even though we are all in the CSN region. If it's important enough to carry the main channel for all of us, why not the plus channel?

Your customer service reps say that channels are added based on demand for them, and Verizon will listen if there are more requests. After that, I was told that there was no way to request a channel over the phone.

I just switched over from DirecTV 3 months ago and am quickly regretting it. I've had to send 2 boxes back since they died within a week. The guide is worthless compared to direcTV and limited DVR disk space has me losing programs before watching them. Now that I realize I'll miss 10 or so hockey games, I'll cut my losses and go back to direcTV unless I see this channel in the next couple of weeks.

Take this for what it's worth, but a customer service specialist left me a message saying they are working on getting CSN+ in the Richmond market. If anyone wants this channel, you need to make your voice heard loud and clear. This representative did say it might take a "few months", which may mean anything. But don't let them off the hook by being silent.

I'm glad to see more votes from folks in MD and VA that want CSN+ returned to the line-up.

Something for you all to consider: I repeated my request it in the "Suggest Channels to Add to FiOS TV" thread in case Verizon Executives read it but not other threads such as this one. I don't know that it is necessary but I figure it can't hurt.

What really blows my mind is that I got to see the Caps on CSN+ on FiOS here last season. Now it has been taken away with no reason given.

Caps games this fri and sat (11/13 & 14)are on CSN+. I'm bumming.

Once again, Friday's and Saturday's (11-13 & 11-14) Caps games on CSN+...Friday I will be at VERIZON Center, but Sat in NJ I wont get to see...at least games on CSN+ at VERIZON Center, we have a better chance to see, but games not at VERIZON Center we don't....note that the team plays at VERIZON Center, but VERIZON FIOS refuses to carry CSN+...

FTR, I have e-mailed Comcast THREE TIMES about this--no response...

I'm going to freak out.... I wish I'd seen this before I bought the center ice package, spending an hour on the phone and missing two Caps games, only to find out that the Caps were blacked out... I also recieved the 3 month free Cinemax and HBO "we're sorry" special...

PLEASE PICK UP CSN+ I registered to this forum specifically to request from Verizon to pick this up in Anne Arundel county.

I think I'm going to need to switch to Comcast... And I've been happy with the service, but this will not stand, must watch the caps...

Does anyone have any other solution, streaming via PS3 or something... I really don't want to switch, but i'd looking like that's the only option.

I am requesting that COMCAST Sports Net + be added to the channel line-up in Prince George's County, MD. As a Capitals fan, I am missing games by this channel's exclusion. Why would you have COMCAST Sports Net but not Sports Net + ? If I had thought SportsNet + was not in line-up, I would have stuck with COMCAST as my TV and internet provider.

This Saturday's WSH - TOR game will be shown nationally in Canada on CBC, across the U.S. on NHL Network, and you guessed it- regionally on CSN+. Everyone else in North America will be able to watch this game except for most of us in the DC region with Verizon FiOS.

If Verizon is scrambling to find a way to add this channel now, it sure would have been nice if they would have listened in May when I first started asking about it. I think I was just sluffed off at the time as one guy asking for a channel that no one else cared about.

I just had to add that I stopped by my local Verizon store in downtown Richmond, VA. This isn't a cell phone store, but a FiOS store that was required in the local franchise agreement. I got some updated channel lineups, and did a "by the way, how come Verizon doesn't carry Comcast Sportsnet Plus?"

Now, I never thought that a Verizon rep could be less helpful in person than over the phone, but I was wrong. He just shrugged his shoulder and said "I don't know, those decisions are made at a higher pay grade than mine". Okay, so is there a way to ask for a new channel here? No. He said "they add channels based on more people wanting them", so then I asked him how they know that when there's no way to ask for them. He shrugged the shoulder again and gave me something like "I don't know". After I explained that this channel was on when there was more than one live game, he said "all I can tell you is to get NBA League Pass". When I told him that these games are blacked out since the channel is available locally, he shrugged the shoulder again and talked about how many more channels they have than Comcast. That's very true, but Verizon lacks quite a few live games. Shoulder shrug again...

I just kind of stood there for a few seconds, shocked that this guy had nothing productive to tell me. Thanks for nothing. Verizon's customer service seems to be absolutely awful on every level.

The Wizards play tonight on CSN+. Will I be able to see the game in Richmond, sadly not. Nor will I be able to watch the Caps tomorrow, also on CSN+. Come on Fios, for markets that have CSN, they're going to need CSN+ as well. It's not that difficult.

That blog has a very detailed and reasonable explanation, which is exactly what we've been asking for here. It's too bad no one from Verizon will tell us this, but it's nice to know that they're working on it. I wonder how many subscribers they're willing to lose in the meantime.

It seems that this thing is finally to the point where the parties involved are trying to fix it. I wonder why it took two years without CSN+ for anything to happen, but it may have been our recent complaints that did it.

Please don't be silent about this though...the Caps and Canadiens are on CSN+ this Saturday. Thanks everyone for posting!!!

I've pretty much decided that, next summer I will be going back to comcast if this is not resolved...I'd do it sooner, but I may lose the CenterIce pkg. I've already paid for...Verizon has till July to fix this--or I'm gone...this has been going on for TWO YEARS...why couldn't they have just left the games on NewsChannel 8? We GET that waste of a channel...

CSN had to expand their footprint for these games because MASN clearly had them beat. News Channel 8 was only available close to DC, and even then, only on certain cable operators. The NC8 games didn't even come close to where I live in Richmond, much less other parts of the CSN footprint. CSN+ was a great idea, but at ths point it looks like MASN still has them beat, because every operator has to carry both MASN and MASN2, plus MASN2 is a continuous feed all summer. At least Verizon is trying to get their act together at this point and get the channel, but I cannot fault you whatsoever if you leave. This is really frustrating...

Also, this Saturday's game @ Montreal will be carried on NHL Network in the U.S., but don't forget that it's blacked out in our region because it will be available on CSN+.

In case anyone from Verizon is reading the posts here, I'D LIKE TO PROPOSE A SOLUTION-

I posted it on Mike Holden's blog last night, but I've been thinking about it since as something that just might work. For areas in the CSN footprint that don't have FiOS1, simply put up a feed of the FiOS "help channel" (The channel that comes on after the cable box is reset). With the help channel duplicated on channel 1, this creates "filler" for when there is no CSN+ programming on. When CSN programming comes on, use the same mechanism currently in place to switch between FiOS1 and CSN+. The channel can just be listed in the guide as "Comcast Sportsnet Plus", with "off air" during the times when the help channel is on.

This would probably be a temporary solution, but is absolutely adequate until CSN and Verizon work out a permanent one.

We would be able to see the games, and Verizon would basically have a commercial running 21 hours per day that more people would see.

I live in Anne Arundel County and I noticed a few weeks back that Comcast got rid of Fios1 which would broadcast the Wizards or Capitals game depending on who was on CSN+. I think this is absolutely rediculous. I pay a lot of money almost $200.00 a month for FIOS service and when the capitals and/or wizards are playing I'd like to have the option to watch them play. For example, tonight the Wizards are playing on CSN, and the Caps are playing on CSN+. I would prefer to watch the caps game but would much rather prefer the option to watch both games. This is absolutely rediculous. I was a comcast customer for over 10 years and I never had an issue with watching either the caps or wizards game. Verizon must do something to get CSN+ or get FIOS1 back up and going in Anne Arundel County. If I have to miss anymore Caps or Wizards games because of Verizon not playing them, I will switch back to Comcast as will many others that I know. If we do this, Verizon will lose over $1K a month just off myself and friends of mine. This is unacceptable.

Well, in the short time I've had Fios I've found that 1) ny in-home PC network no longer works right (their solution is to hook p my old router to their router), and now 2) I'm missing watching the Caps because Verizon isn't offering CSN+. I just got off the phone with them (after 15 mi of having my ear blasted with some music being played at a volume so loud, my phone was vibrating on the table) only to be told "oh well, sorry"

I was a Comcast customer as well, and I would have no problem going back if channels I had before aren't made available.

C'mon Verizon .. fix this.

I'm here to complain about the CSN+ debacle. I've been searching for the Caps game. It's on the NHL network, but CSN has blocked that. I looked at the Guide for Fios 1, but it said something else. So, I've been complaining to the Fios online help guy. Just now I checked by actually going to Fios 1 and it's there. It's a pretty crummy SD signal, but it's there.

I never had this kind of a problem with DirecTV and I was a customer there for a long time. With DirecTV I could have gotten someone on the phone to talk to about this, but not Verizon.

Fios TV should have CSN+ in HD and not this SD signal that's very poor. C'Mon Fios get it right.

Tonight, I just turned off FiOS TV altogether and I'm listening to 1500 AM over the internet, since Verizon cannot deliver the live game that is available to them in my region. I'm in the TV region, but outside of the radio broadcast area. At least the NHL puts out the internet radio feeds for free, unlike MLB.

I hope the people at Verizon can understand why I'm not too happy with them at the moment. I was going to go to a local bar tonight to watch the game (via Comcast), but the fresh coat of snow made that too dangerous.

How rediculous is it that CSN+ isn't offered in AA County??!! Hundreds of Caps and Wizards fans -- and thousands of Maryland Terrapins fans. The flagship university in the state and their games aren't even shown in the state capital? (edit) even players parents can't watch -- Gregory and Mosley in Baltimore, no luck; Pearman in Columbia, no luck.

I'm sure Comcast will love to have my business -- which they will definitely get if CSN+ isn't added to the lineup.

Verizon = horrible customer service and absolutely no concept of what their customers want.

No updates, just silence. I trust that Verizon has a plan with an anticipated launch date, but that's something they don't wish to share. That's fine, but with every week that passes, I get a little more impatient.

Personally, I'm still not recommending FiOS to any potential new customers until this is resolved and the channel is on.

Come on Verizon, a little communication goes a long way. If it's going to take another two weeks, tell us that. If we're looking at some long, drawn-out "solution" then be straight with us about that. When you claim to be the best and have a premium priced product, then you need to deliver.

Now, in fairness, this is more details than I've heard from other providers in similar situations. I like that they are using a fiber connection going to the VHO's instead of having to get a satellite feed from the super headends. I just hope that this feed goes out to VHO4, VHO9, and VHO9a, and no one gets forgotten about.

Another CSN+ Caps game on Tuesday. I would just take the 2 hour trip to the game, but tickets are kinda hard to come by these days. I'm not holding my breath to see CSN+ on my TV by then, but it would be a pleasant surprise if it arrived in time.

It sure would have been nice if anyone at Verizon had listened to me last summer when I was asking about this channel!

In Philadelphia when there is a conflict in scheduling between the Flyers and Sixers on Comcast Sports Net one of the games gets moved to the "Comcast Network" which was originally called CN8. At this time Verizon FiOS TV does not carry the Comcast Network / CN8. When I signed up for FiOS the sales rep in my neighborhood said Comcast CN8 was going away so Verizon had no plans to carry it.

Caps vs. Canadiens on CSN+ tomorrow. Since I'm not expecting a new year's miracle and the channel being on Verizon at home, I'm making plans to watch the game at a restaurant that has another TV provider. ANY other provider will have the game.

Of course, I'll have to wrangle for a screen to watch the game on, since we're in the middle of "bowl season" and everyone wants to watch a college game no matter who is playing. It sure would be nice if my $200+ FiOS bill included these games that I want to see, on a channel that is already being provided to Verizon.

It's been a month since the implementation plan has started. Is the grooming part going to take another month? I hope at this point that the signal has at least reached VHO9/VHO9a, and the engineers there can watch the games.

FiOS - Consider this another formal request to RE-program Comcast Sportsnet Plus for Howard County. We are close enough to DC to deserve to get both the overflow Caps and Wizards games. Can't understand why we had this last year, only to have it taken away. Not sure what went into the decision to pull it, but providing an extra channel that people seem to want for only 3-4 hours every few days for half the year seems like a no-brainer to me.

Well, Verizon seems to be working to add CSN+ for those of us that don't get FiOS1, but the Twitter @fios response said that they "have a few more weeks of work", which stinks, but I (and we) really do appreciate the update instead of not being acknowledged like what happens here.

I got an answer on another message board (from a poster that probably doesn't want to be identified, but thank you) as to why FiOS1 has CSN+, and the rest of us don't. FiOS1 is produced by an outside vendor that gets the CSN+ feed and incorporates it into the channel. Verizon did not already get the CSN+ feed before, and their policy was to not carry part-time feeds. I guess that has now changed, and they are working towards a solution, whatever that may be.

The only Caps games left on the sched for CSN+ are Tuesday 1/12, Tuesday 1/26, and Friday 2/5. So "a few more weeks" make 1/12 look like a no-go. January 26 is three weeks away and, in my mind at least, also looking doubtful. If it was "a couple weeks" I'd be more encouraged. Maybe we'll see 2/5.

Wizards have 8 more on CSN+ so Wiz fans will benifit from our effort even though that's not what we were gunning for. Smiley Wink

Kudos to Joe Ambeault, who posts as @fiostv on Twitter. He has been the only source of good news on this thread.

Boooos to Comcast Sportsnet, who continued to stick with a grainy part-time overflow feed, even after they knew how MASN2 was able to get things fixed (a couple years ago) and work with every provider. Boooos also go out to those at Verizon who have tried to sluff us off and give the old "maybe next year" response. FiOS is the biggest and best new multichannel product out there, and you need to realize that your customers expect responsiveness when they pay big bucks for it every month. For some reason, Verizon has decided that they want to work behind a veil of secrecy, and there will be no way to contact them directly by e-mail or phone for customers to inquire about or request a new channel. The company's silence on this board makes things that much worse.

I hope that the channel arrives soon, so I can finally mark this thread as "solved".

Guess I'll be making plans to head to a bar tommorow that will carry the Islanders game...by the time this does get fixed, the CSN+ portion of the Caps schedule will be done--and I will be counting the days to when I can call Comcast to get hooked up and have FiOS disconnected...I've complained about this ever since I got FiOS almost THREE YEARS ago....I'm glad they finally listened to somebody's complaints. But it's too late...I'm going to go back to Comcast after hockey season is done--only because my CenterIce pkg. won't transfer...

One more Caps game left on CSN+ this season. Will we finally get the channel next week, or will we still be waiting? Will Verizon's solution include the April game on the Comcast Network? What channel will this solution appear on?

I'm just full of questions today....

Good news! I just saw on another forum that Friday's Caps game has been moved from CSN+ to CSN and the Wizards will be on CSN+ instead. Since that was supposed to be the last CSN+ game for the Caps, we'll be able to see the rest of the games this season. Then hopefully, by next season this thread will be resolved.

Mike Holden derserves all the credit for getting the ball rolling on this and getting a solution for us. MY calls to Verizon over the last three+ years didn't help. Big props to Mike Holden. No CSN+HD, but at least I'll be able to watch CSN+ games at home from now on and not have to travel to BFE to find someplace that has the game on.
