I read Aljazeera's sport press release that they bought the rights for the Spanish league in the USA from GolTv, is FIOS going to carry this channel that is supposed to launch on August 1st?
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/al-jazeera-launch-2-sports-114142745--sow.html
Yes so this has been reported. But, I like to know if beIN Sports will have enough market pull to get a stronger audience than GolTV, Fox Soccer and ESPN Deportes, besides the various international satelitte feeds and online feeds from Spain, Europe, Latin America, etc.? I have no evidence that supports a claim for their idea yet, again that's marketing and advertising data, but I have found no report on it, nothing.
I called Verizon and of course they did not know. They are not in their line-up. I called multiple times and some regions were less receptive than others. What's the Verizon consensus? If there is no critical mass for beIN Sports it will not happen, or it will be defective and fail. Remember, there is a two-legged Super-Clásico coming in August, but will Verizon even have this? Who is ready? There is a gloom of doubt in the air. In fact, there is already a satelitte feed with coverage of Euros 2012 from beIN Sports starting this week, according to what I read.
With respect to this risk, I propose my idea that would be to maximize and explore the availability with Verizon's existing Spanish Lineup and DIRECTV® partnership to facilitate more channels from Spain (and Europe) that would result in the direct feeds of La Liga BBVA, Copa Del Rey, UEFA Europa League, Portuguese League, Milan Channel, and Serie A from Spanish Channels of Spain. Of course the feed would be in Castellano, but there could be a SAP option for English voice over.
It's an alternative to not having any Spanish, Italian, and Europa League matches and cups. Who supports my alternative idea? We can call it the Castilian Plan.
Latinus, that is a good plan but won't work. Since Aljazeera (beIN) bought all the rights. the matter here is not whether this channel will be successful or not, the issue here is that there will be no need for GOLTV (Obselete) and almost for FOX soccer except that they are still will be carrying the EPL, ESPN Deportes will lose the games sublease they used to get from Goltv for la liga. I see what Aljazeera Sport did overseas by buying all rights, it is a very very rich channel, I bet you that even after 2015 when FSC's contract will expire for champions league beIN will buy those rights.
In my opinion that anybody who watchd la liga on goltv or deportes will need this channel to keep watching the games, so fios has no choice but to carry the channel.
I am sure all of my fellow soccer fans really would like to know the answer to the question of will FIOS carry beIn Sport channels when they launch in the US in August?
any word Verizon?
I agree. One of the reasons I went to Fios was for the Soccer Coverage - I have SPT, Globo, ESPNDeportes, GolTV, Both Fox Soccer channels. They MUST add beIN!
i called then and they have no clue.. I really hope they get the channel.. I relly dont wanna switch.. if anyone hears anything please post to inform me..
I am really hoping this channel is offered starting in August as GOLTV is no longer showing the Spanish Football (Soccer) League. I am a big FC Barcelona/La Liga fan and will be extremely dissapointed if I can't watch the season.
Verizon's current soccer channel offerings have lost the rights to broadcast any games from:
Spain's La Liga BBVA
Italy's Serie A
France's League 1
These rights were won by a new network called beIN Sports. They have two channel offerings: beIN Sports USA 1 & beIN Sports USA 2. If you love European football and want to be able to watch games from Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, etc, or if you're a fan of such big name players as Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, etc. make your voice heard and demand that Verizon add these channels to their lineup! Vote for this Idea Lounge suggestion:
http://forums.verizon.com/t5/ideas/v2/ideapage/blog-id/ideas/article-id/14882
Then get on the phone and express your desire to have these channels in the lineup.
Please add beIN Sport to the programming as it is basically replacing GOAL TV. The soccer season starts this weekend and GOAL TV will be useless. I plan on cancelling that suscription for that reason.
The operative word here is "etc". While everyone drools over big-name stars, the reality is that an enormous range of games, with lots of other good teams, have moved to the heavens.
Also, EPL rights expire this year, and consider the possibility that FSC will have very little going for it as well. At least now, having lost Italy, it can be less hypocritican, because it is basically an ill-disguised publicity shop for England.
Alas, I suspect that Verizon will notice this in about 12 years
Direct TV carries it, so unless verizon respond quickly they are going to lose customers. Me for one
So far no response to any posts from Verizon. The season starts today. What are they waiting for, customers to leave??
@Jim12345 wrote: So far no response to any posts from Verizon. The season starts today. What are they waiting for, customers to leave??
This is a PEER to PEER forum, if you're expecting a Verizon reponse here you have a better chance of it snowing on the sun.
Verizon needs to add beIN SPORT CHANNALS to FIOS TV , Its A MUST . I can't beleive it you still not add it yet.
from the looks of it fios is promoting piracy by forcing people to watch soccer games on Justintv after paying $200/month for FIOS services!!! #FIOSPromotesPiracy, #SoccerForSome!
as you can see they don't care about us at all, no verizon staff person responded to this thread, eventhough they moved my idea from Idea exchange to this TV Programming forum!!
This forum is just peer to peer.
Verizon rarely announces plans in advance. So even if they were adding it today, you probably not see them announce it to fter it was up. e.g. the recent add of BBCA HD.
This really belongs in the Share Your Ideas with Verizon forum. There is already a request there
http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Share-Your-Ideas-with-Verizon/Please-add-the-channels-beIN-Sports-1-amp-2-to-FiOS/idi-p/442079
I totally agree with you. I am planning to follow your steps. I am a soccer fan and Verizon now has nothing left to offer its soccer fan customers. Or maybe....very little left.
For anyone that stumbles upon this forum post and the accompanying comments and is interested in getting access to these channels which are the only legal option for watching La Liga, Serie A and League 1...
The Idea Exchange forum is apparently the place to request channel lineup changes and there is currently a post there you can vote on and be heard. It's currently the 2nd top voted request. Let's get it to number 1 so Verizon pays attention.
I switched from Directv to Fios , but I now see that since Directv has beIN Sport and Verizon doesn't, we may not be able to see the football season -- the real football season, I mean, with La Liga, and SerIes A. While I'm generally happy with Verizon, that is like losing the NFL for some people, so unless Verizon gets beIN Sport soon, I'll beswitching back to Directv. And the season has started, so they have to get it soon! Please Verizon!
bad idea!!! we will never get beINSport on FIOS!!! go back to Directv dude!
beIN Sports is a new dedicated sports channel available in the USA. Launched in August 2012, the channel is an initiative supported by Qatar Sports Investment. The channel will be trying to establish itself as the "new home of football" for soccer fans in America. The channel has acquired an impressive portfolio of TV rights for the US which will certainly target a big segment of soccer fans in the US. Currently beIN Sports is negotiating deals with various US television providers. Availability of the channel's programming will be limited to DirecTV Ch 620 and 9620 (HD) and on Dish Network DISH’s America’s Top 250 package as well as on the DISHLatino package. (Channels 408 and 871)The channel will expand it's availability to new US TV providers in due time.
Acquired rights:
South American World Cup Qualifying
I suggest you all cast your vote on this thread, eventhough I know it won't matter but we can only try!!
Please add BeIn Sport USA
whats a shame is that if I upgrade to the top package on Verizon right now, Verizon still won't carry it where atleast I know the top Package on DTV does, I guess we better get used to limited TV cause thats what Verizon is im sadly coming to that realizeation, Question is to switch or not to switch this company will always be 2/3 best always.
Bein Sports just acquired the rights to US mens national team. PLEASE ADD BOTH BEIN SPORTS USA
I like Verizon, but I love soccer particularly games from La Liga. Now that they are gone from Verizon I m seriously considering switching to DirectTV. I look forward to watchin Barca and Real games in the weekends...without Bein that wont be possible, but thanks God I do have a choice....
Hi All-
I wanted to let you know that we're listening! I've made sure folks within Verizon are aware of your comments and your suggestions to add beIN Sports. While we can't comment on ongoing negotiations- I will keep you posted if we add any new channels.
Thanks,
Heather
This is a response recieved from Verizon:
"I can understand wanting to find out if we will be offering the BeIn Sports in HD with our FiOS service.I have researched this channel and at this time, we will not be offering it. Verizon is working to provide the most robust entertainment programming in the industry. We understand how important it is to have access to your favorite channels on FiOS TV. Please register for the Verizon Community Forums, and add your suggestion for a FiOS TV channel:http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-TV-Programming/Suggest-Channels-to-Add-to-FiOS-TV/td-p/57288I show that you are under a bundle contract. If you decide to cancel your services, you will be billed an Early Termination Fee of $180.00."
Maybe the rep. isnt well informed BUT this is a big let down.
BEIN Sport USA will now be carrying all away USA World Cup Qualifiers....
" NEW YORK -- Add U.S. road World Cup qualifiers to the soccer games many American television viewers may not be able to see.
The new beIN Sport network said Wednesday it had acquired rights to U.S. road qualifiers this year and next along with all other qualifiers in the North and Central American and Caribbean region for the 2014 tournament, except for matches involving Mexico.
The network, launched last week by the Al-Jazeera Sport Media Network, is available to only about 7 percent of U.S. television households. It can be received in the 8 million homes that subscribe to its tier on DirecTV and DISH, which are available in 34 million households in all. "
If this isn't a good reason to carry BEIN Sport USA, there isn't one...
I suppose I could cut down my FIOS service to just broadband, and take all of my TV business ($300/month) to Direct TV.
SOCCER IS NOT A FRINGE SPORT.
LOOK AT THE RATINGS FOR THE OLYMPICS/EURO 2012/WORLD CUP 2010/EPL ON ESPN....
THE RATINGS ARE INCREASING. AMERICANS LIKE SOCCER.
I personally cant stand soccer, but i'm on your side and think verizon should carry this and all sports channels and sports packages in high definition.I think verizon is underestemating how impotant sports is to its customers, and how people like you and i may switch to directv to get what we want in HD!(I personally want verizon to offer all home and away nba league pass games in HD!!)
It has most of the best soccer leagues in the world...
Dont let DIRECT TV get all your business!C
Sorry ... Just saw another Post on the topic ...
Don't let your competitors lock you out, Verizon. Fight for the righth to add beIN Sports!
Verizon must keep all their customers happy, right now I am not a happy camper there is nothing much to see on FIOS right now. We have already missed the season’s openers in the Spanish league, and today Thursday August 23, 2012 we will not see the super-cup game. Verizon must add to their programming the Bein Network and bring back life into their channel line-up.
Very, Very SAD Customer,
Brooklyn, NY
I am here to say add BeIN sports. I need my La Liga, Serie A and USMNT away WC 2014 qualifiers!!! You have the bandwidth. Do it!!
Spanish Super Cup isn't on beIN...it's on ESPN Deportes. But after the 2nd leg, that's the last of any Spanish team you'll see until Champions League starts. Verizon is dropping the ball if they don't pick this up. I mean its a no brainer.
COMCAST has now added beinSport. Come-on Verizon. Add beinSport NOW.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1140924/bein-sport-reaches-first-deal-on-cable-with-comcast?cc=5901
Ummm...yeah, this *****. I really don't want to go through the hassle of switching to comcast but a full year of no Serie A will *****. Seriously Verizon...get your act together.
Leon
Come on FIOS, do the deal! Honestly, La Liga and Serie A are the only things I watch on TV. Please don't make me switch back to DirecTV!
Add me to list of customers that will change providers if Fios doesn't acquire this channel soon.
Now that Comcast has planned to add the channel, it's a no brainer (for me) to drop FIOS. I can probably get much better pricing too if I bundle my internet service. Goodbye FIOS, not offering GolTV in HD was one thing, but not offering La Liga in any form is not something I can stand.
Being Chanell is a new sport chanell and we can't see the soccer games
Its beIN. Reports have them close to making an agreement with Verizon. http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-TV-Programming/Verizon-Settles-With-Active-Video-Nearing-Deals-With-Pac-12-and/td-p/472469/jump-to/first-unread-message
Lots of other threads on this.
Hello all who would like Verizon to add beIN Sport 1and 2 to the hd lineup. Here is the best way to request this:
Go to the beIN Sport website. On the right there is a boxt that says "contact your provider to add this channel." Simply fill out the request form and tell them your zip code and provider. Simple and best way we can request it. Let beIN use it in their negotiations.
FYI there is no reason to call Verizon about this. I called and they tried to direct me to the website to request the channel. I asked where specifically I could find this area of the website and was eventually told there was no formal way to request a channel over the phone or on the website. they suggested posting on the forum which we have.
Please do the steps above so we can hopefully watch our la liga, serie a, and other soccer programming.
If FIOS does not add beIn Sports very soon, I will do what all soccer fans will do -- switch to a provider who does.
You're on the clock FIOS - make the deal today.
John Godfrey
We need this channel. Its makes a lot of business sense. Verizon, please do the right thing. Otherwise, you will be loosing a lot of subscribers.
Thanks

GOL TV won't be "useless". they show the German Bundesliga as well and I'm certainly not the only one enjoying that. While I'd certainly enjoy beIN as well, please don't make rather ignorant claims...
German league in BLURRY vision, just like someone said!
How soon is Verizon add beinsport
@scan wrote: COMCAST has now added beinSport. Come-on Verizon. Add beinSport NOW.http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1140924/bein-sport-reaches-first-deal-on-cable-with-comcast?cc=5901
I'm here to say the same thing. PLEASE ADD beIN SPORT!! I need my LA LIGAAAA!!!
verizon we need that channel.bein will do great.why no one from Verizon knows anything.
I'd like to add my request to carry beIN to the others. EPL is moving to I believe NBC sports next year which will make Fox Soccer essentially dead. Since 1. Many fans got the sports package expecting to see the main Euopean matchs and 2. Most of the other major providers have made or are making deals to get beIN it's time for verizon to step up and get beIN on their service.
Yes, please add BEIN Sport!
I had an opportunity to watch BeInSport on a directTV feed while flying last week. The programming was excellent and FIOS is sure to lose many customers if the channel remains unavailable to its customers. I joined FIOS years ago because my former cable provider offered terrible customer service. Now I feel like it is FIOS who is falling behind on the important part of their business. FIOS customers demand BeInSport!
http://www.beinsport.tv/bein-offer
Use this link to send an email to VERIZON Fios TV to add beIN Sports to their channel lineup.
Verizon needs to get be in sports TV now !!!
How can they allege to give soccer coverage without it !!!
