Is Verizon doing anything to end Robocalls? Consumer's Union has had 300,00+ signatures to phone companies asking to end robocalls at EndRobocalls.org.
It's outrageous that Verizon offers so few tools (and all at customer expense) to block robocalls.
Blocking individual numbers is no answer for those of us (most of us, that is) who are bombarded with these
calls from constantly changing numbers. Verizon can and should do more.
If you have Verizon Digital Voice (as opposed to the old POTS), then I suggest you look at the free service called NOMOROBO. It is not a Verizon service, but I have been using it for a year or so, it does a GREAT job eliminating robo calls.

I have reciently set up nomorobo and I'll see how that goes. I would prefer that Verizon and other phone companies do more to stop the Robocalls. One thing is to better authenticate caller ID information. They should be able to detect spoofed phone numbers. That would take cooperation among the telecom companies, but I'm sure the technology is possable. Then, they could give people the ability to block non authenticated caller ID numbers or send them to voicemail.
I still would like to hear from Verizon on this.
Current rules don't really allow them to do so. They are required to deliver phone calls in almost all cases.
I am hoping that a new decision by the FCC after their recent review of nomorobo will allow that service or something else to be used directly by the phone companies to block robo calls.
