NESN Added But Nothing Matches.

Verizon fios has added NESN (New England Sports Network) to the new york/new jersey area where it is only available in sd on channel 97 where NESN is a channel that is known to carry the games of and cover the new england patriots, boston red sox, boston celtics, boston bruins where a game is being played right now and is listed on the guide where the boston red sox are playing against the toronto bluejays but what is actually on is some sports talk show called the dennis callahan show. Now if you have to be in the boston area for you to be able to watch the games then adding NESN to the tri-state area seems pointless. WGN (channel 8 sd, 568 hd) which carries the chicago cubs, chicago white sox, chicago bulls, chicago bears, chicago blackhawks games you can actually see the games live no matter where you live but with NESN it remains to be seen if you can actually watch new england professional sports games live outside of the new england area like you can with WGN.

Well it took verizon long enough but they have finally fixed the issue of everything being wrong on channel 97 NESN as the actual schedule that should be there is now there. It no longer lists red sox games from 7pm-10pm or at any other time as verizon has finally been able to make the distinction between NESN for those who are in the new england area and NESN for those who are not in that area where there should be different schedules for that channel depending on where you live. Now if verizon could fix the other channels that are completely wrong that have been wrong for years where there are dozens of them where nothing matches at all then maybe people can actually start to have some confidence in the fact that verizon does care about how profound the guide data problem is where they need to start making the necessary corrections now not years from now.

Someone started what seems like an elaborate rumor about NESN.

It's NOT available in NY/NJ. And I'm sure won't be. A Red Sox game covered by NESN was shown on MLB Network, so some Sox fan in Queens got excited.

VHO 7 has NESN in it which is a VHO that has north new jersey and new york programming in it where some other VHOS in the area have it as well. Right now what was just on was the boston red sox pregame live show where before that it was NESN live then prior to that was the bobby valentine (who is the manager of the boston red sox) show. What is supposed to be on next is a live game between the boston red sox and the toronto blue jays but what is on is a repeat of a program called the front office report. The channel is a good channel but unless you live in the new england area it appears that you can not see the red sox games live. NESN is similar to what SNY is for ny mets fans or YES is for ny yankee fans. The channel is currently located on channel 97 in sd on my guide where the channel is right after CBS sports channel 94 and right before CNN channel 100. If it is not in your local sports package then you should check to see if it is right after the MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA networks. It would also help to know what VHO it is that you are located in because it may not be available for everyone in the tri-state area. The south new jersey/ philadelphia market may have not gotten it which is a reason that everyone in new jersey may not have it because south jersey gets philadelphia locals not new york locals. A while back a texas channel called longhorn tv was added to the guide at channel 320 even though it is a channel that there were not that many requests for it but there was a demand for NESN so now it has been added.

NESN National was added today in VHO9. Please keep in mind that this channel will not have any live or replays of Red Sox or Bruins games because of league territorial restrictions, but for some reason, the guide still lists the games. It's just one of those channels that might be nice for out of market fans to see more coverage of their teams. So far, we have SNY, YES, Longhorn Network, and NESN on ultimate HD. Inside each of these regions, the respective channels are on basic (and in HD), but it's just a nice little bonus for the rest of the country to have them available at all, even without the live MLB and NHL games.

It is the NESN National feed. It will NEVER have a Red Sox game live or encore. It will carry encore Bruins games. It will offer alternative programming when a Red Sox game is on. Pre and Post game programming will be available. It is meant to supplement the MLB Extra Innings coverage. I am happy but a little disappointed - I would like to avoid some of the rival teams announcers and have Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo all the time. I would subscribe to NESN (full access) if it were available in a heart beat!! Oh well - I guess a little bit is better than none.
