Because its time to get a better Email provider. Don't expect Verizon to rectify the problem. There are many alternatives out there with much better service.

I still can't sign in, but I keep being asked to change my password even though I have changed it several times recently. This has been occurring for several weeks. Before, I was having to make multiple attempts to login before getting in without being "timed out" right away. Now I can't even get to that point to pay my bill, view e-mail and any other services. How does Verizon expect me to pay my bill which I've always done online and it's due in a few days???
Hello vzretiree51
Sorry you are having difficulty, an agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information to help you resolve your issue. Please remember to check your spam/junk folder if you do not hear from an agent.
This is a poor response to this problem when I've mentioned in another forum message that I spent hours upon hours on the phone with various customer service and online agents that have yet to give a solution that will work most of the time, if not all of the time. They always have a canned answer or tell me to change the password that doesn't fix the problem. When I worked in IT, the company would have system you could back to that work and then implement the new system when all the bugs were out it. This is the worst I've seen service and you see many other folks are having the same and various other problems. Worst: There seems to be no escalation even when it was promise!
I posted yesterday regarding problems signing into Web Email, now I realize what the problem is for some reason when you sign in it goes to the Verizon Wireless Server and asks you to change password, pick security picture etc.
After I did all that it still just returns to the same page after I sign in, change password, etc. I tried 12 times!
I called customer service last nite changed my password but yet the problem continues to exist. They could not even fix the problem.
I do not have a Verizon Wireless Account.
There is obviously something seriously wrong with the Verizon Sign-In Server Program for Web Email.
Please get this fixed. The email program is useless when you cannot access your email messages.
Thank you.
I am having the same issue. Verizon services are broken. I have 10 machines and all differnt browsers, it is the same thing. it is clearly a verizon website issue that needs to be fixed. Why is fios even tied to wireless servicese anyway? This is clearly a problem and I'm at the point of canceling my service because I can't get my email. Verizon has failed to provide a paid service.
A M E N !!!
They are at it again. Always trying to change things they don't know how to change. Changes made should be tested before putting them into general use.
When you call the support line, the representatives that are there to help have no idea that the problem exists. I feel sorry for them. They should be made aware when there are large scale problems like we are having with E mail acccess.
I agree and the point is that this is a service that we are paying for.
I mentioned earlier that the system keeps asking me to enable Java Script but I ignore it now because I have already verified that my Java Script is in tact. Mind you, this only happens on Internet Explorer but not on Firefox. Why that is I don't even know. And now I notice that every other time I try to log in, I get an error message asking to me start over again because of a problem with the web page.
I get into my email regardless but it's a pain and I agree that changes should be tested and the kinks should be worked out before being implemented for us customers. It's like we're the guinea pigs and all they can say is that the Verizon Wireless link is normal? It doesn't make any sense.
I'm not even going to bother calling customer service about this, given what I have read on here about this and being that I am clearly not the only one. I would agree that it's a Verizon issue for sure.
I am having the same probllem! So frustrating. Why don't we send a petition signed by all of us to have it fixed!
To topdog: "They are at it again. Always trying to change things they don't know how to change. Changes made should be tested before putting them into general use. ---I'm not even surprised anymore that customer service reps have no idea about this particular problem. Plenty of times in the past when I have contacted customer service for other issues, they would say that everything seems fine on their end and act like that was all that mattered. That's poor customer service. A customer service rep is not supposed to dismiss a customer's concern just because "everything looks fine" on their end. I hate that. I'm the customer paying for this monthly service and if I'm telling them about an annoying problem that I see, I would expect some assistance with resolving it.
I'm using my other browser, Firefox, for my email and everything else so at least I don't have to log in twice.
It's been a long time with this problem. A big time company like Verizon should have resolved this issue a long time ago rather than inconvenience its customers. I have abandoned my Verizon web mail for another provider. Don't blame it on Firefox!
why must i sign in and use my password each time i check my e mail its a real pain

How much longer do we have to endure with this issue? I recommend that Verizon reimburse each and everyone of us with credit for this inept attempt to "secure" the accounts.
I'M BACK SIGNING IN EVERYTIME I GET ON VERIZON E-MAIL AGAIN WHAT AM GOING TO DO.
Ever since there was some kind of security upgrade a few weeks ago, I keep having to sign in to my email, even when I check off that box that says to keep me signed in. How can I not have to sign in? Getting old doing it 10 times a day.
keep me sined in
do not shut computer off
keep computer on at all times
So this having to sign in every time I want to go to My Verizon is permanent?
very good question. on top of signing in each time, it take me at least 3 attemps, being told first 2 times "due to enhanced security i need to update my info" which i do, then when signing in i am told my information is incorrect, so...... back to updating my info again. verizon folks, you have a problem with your sign in page, you need to take a look at it.
At first I thought this was temporary, but seeing that this has been like this for over 3 weeks I am guessing this is going to be permanent.
As described in this posting, the Verizon login now redirects the user to an inappropriate URL - which could be construed as a hacking attempt. In addition, the repeated entry of security information further increases exposure to potential password capture. I have also experienced long lock-ups while signing in, which could indicate a man-in-the-middle attack. This is an ongoing problem that should be addressed asap.
doverpm,
This didn't dawn on me before but I agree that the concerns about possible exposure to hacking are valid because of having to enter your password repeatedly and particularly because of the way we get redirected through Verizon Wireless. I'm far from being a technical or programming genius but the Verizon Wireless link for Verizon Fios just doesn't make any sense and seems kind of suspicious. Verizon Wireless is a completely different entity and now-a-days you can't be too careful. I don't even use Verizon Wireless anymore for my cell phone service. And if I click into email directly from Internet Explorer, it says my java script is not up to date when my java is indeed up to date.
However, somebody (a Verizion retiree actually) posted a workaround solution on another thread which has been working better for me and avoids the Verizon Wireless link. Instead of clicking on the email link directly, go to the upper right-hand corner where it says "location" and click on "change". The next page that comes up will be for accessing and/or making changes to your services. Click on the link for "already a customer" and you can sign into your account that way. It will go through the same process of asking for your username and password without the photo site key. Having the picture come up is a good security measure but for Verizon to say that the Verizon Wireless link is normal is no solution at all.
I have had a Verizon account since 2012. I work from home, and I check my email at least every 15 minutes from early in the morning until pretty late at night. I only have one account/email address through Verizon, so I never have to log out to log into another account. (I WANT TO REMAIN LOGGED IN ALL THE TIME ON MY HOME COMPUTER.) I'm the only person who uses this account, and there is only one computer that accesses the account. I don't access it on a phone. It's just one device, and it's been the same single device since 2012.Previously, I would log in and remain logged in for a set amount of time (I assume the maximum period of time that you could remain logged in). Then it would ask me to sign in with my User ID, and I would check the box saying to 'Keep me signed in.' Mostly because I don't ever use a public computer, and I DON'T want to be signed out.Starting today, I've been logged out of webmail every single I time I close the page. I have not, to my knowledge, changed anything about my settings, and I certainly didn't approve this change. I have a million passwords for every website, and I kind of rely on not getting logged out of them constantly. Apparently, this is for my security, but this added frustration doesn't make me feel more secure. Today, as I had done for the last three years, I put in my User ID, checked that I wanted to remain signed in, and input my password on the next screen. Same steps I've always done, but I'm being logged out against my will after I close out the page every time. Oh, and I was also prompted to choose some idiotic picture as a security picture. I don't recall that ever happening before.
As I said, I use my Verizon email/account for my business, and if this is going to continuously cause a problem, I'm probably going to cancel my entire Verizon account. I am NOT inputting my password on this site every 15 minutes for 18 hours a day! What happened and how can I get it back to how it had been yesterday and for the last few years??
But why weren't we sent a LETTER or an EMAIL with this so-called official announcement? The announcement doesn't even make any real sense, and it doesn't answer any of the questions it poses itself. Finally, why aren't customers able to have a say or opt in/opt out of this 'improvement'?
'As described in this posting, the Verizon login now redirects the user to an inappropriate URL - which could be construed as a hacking attempt. EXACTLY. This system feels LESS secure. It's a downgrade of service. Is there anybody at Verizon who will actually do something about this. This just started for me today, but the thought that people have been dealing with this for months.. I won't be able to stand more than week or so. I am definitely cancelling my entire Verizon service if this is it. And I WILL argue any early termination fees because this is a breach of service, as far as I'm concerned.
Recently I was forced to change my password and select a security question and picture. Since then I have to go through the routine of entering my User ID and password on every visit to the site. Prior to the new protocols, the site remembered me.
Any chance this will be fixed and logins remembered?
Yes, fellow consumer "veryirritated", you're absolutely right.
OPT OUT is key!!! Please refer to my previous post where I describe how they have made it take 10 times longer to sign in, and all the extra steps, none of their settings work, etc.
Listen, please, VERIZON*** Helloooo!!!
"veryirritated"-- since obviously the provider does not look at the consumer's poor experiences, you may as well tell me right here on their forum; if you find a way to retain the fiber optic connection using another provider, kindly let me know. My bad experience appears to be identical to yours. I too want only the internet, don't use TV, and bought ther bundle for the internet. What kind of horrible excuse for upgraded technology is this? It's awful!
I am having the same problem and no one seems to be answering our question. I am using Mozilla Firefox browser but have been for quite a long time. I use to be able to sign in and stay signed in for two weeks, now each time I want to access my email I have to do so. Why can't anyone answer this and correct this problem, Verizon does not seem to be of any help.
Now the option of "keep me signed in for 2 weeks" is gone and I still have to sign in each time.
Is this ever going back to the way it was?
ok, after looking around for a solution for this very same issue...i am actually hesitant in saying anything for the fear of verizon simply further destroying its functionality.
BUT... here goes.
go ahead and duplicate this page in the browser if you want..
LOG OUT of verizon if you are already logged in...now just try to reply to this or any other post...
since you are logged out you will be taken to a NEW page with several different login options. this is apparently the OLD login funcitonality thats still tied in to the forums...the login functionality thats otherwise been ruined by verizon.
from the various radio button options you'll see, select the login with your verizon id option and you will see the OLD login dialog box open right within that page... it still has the previous "keep me signed in for two weeks" option still available.
thats it... cross your fingers.
this seems to have done the trick for me as i was visting the forums a couple of weeks ago looking for a solution to why i had to login several times a day just to view webmail, and i was about add a snarky reply to a mod for their obviously false and disengenuous responses when i ran into this login option because...you guessed it, verizon had already logged me out again lol.
after that,i had been able to view webmail multimple times a day for a couple of weeks, just as we used to be able to until yesterday. i tried logging in using the new "normal" login window and was again Back to being forced to login over and over again.... until i revisted that forum specific login box i describe above.
i hope this works for others that still havent found a workaround to verizons greed/ineptitude.
I'm not happy with Verizon's new sign in policy. What happened to Keep me Signed in? It was nice to sign in once every 2 weeks. Bring that block back we use to check.
your system is not remembering my ID and password. Keeps asking me and no place on home page to check keep me logged in
Same with me....Verizon once had a block to check to keep me signed in for 2 weeks. Now I have to sign in almost every day....sometimes twice a day...so what gives ??? How about an answer Verizon ?
There used to be a way to select an option when you logged in to allow me to stay logged into my email longer. There is no longer an option for this and I am automatically logged out in less than 60 minutes. How can this be extended? thanks much.....
@ronrex wrote: your system is not remembering my ID and password. Keeps asking me and no place on home page to check keep me logged in
The main sigin pages have removed sigin in. There ae a few get arounds (other sigin in pages they haven't changed yet), but this is apparently the planned new design.
Obviously they are doing this because they have had a couple major breaches of their security that they are trying to block. Not sure I don't agree with the concern for the Website. BUT for all the others it is probably best that you move your email to an email client. E.G. Windows Live Mial, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.
OK, I'm starting to really tire of having to sign in everytime I want to check my email on my home computer. Since I have to use my work logon everytime I leave my computer at the office, I can tell you that I don't want the same setup at home. I'm the only one using my computer at home and I don't need to have to sign in every single time. I've been considering getting rid of my AT&T account since their price went up and using only my Verizon account, but maybe that would be nuts. At least I can stay signed in for 2 weeks with AT&T.
The Verizon email page is really terribly designed. There needs to be more space to read the messages and a single link to contact Verizon somewhere, but not so many direct links taking up needed space at the bottom. The Verizon red banner doesnt' need to hog space either. I know that I'm using Verizon! Please shape up this program. Please.
The only way I can keep myself signed in is to minimize the screen so it goes to the bottom tool bar, then if I want to go to any sites on the internet, I open the browser again, and I use that one to access other internet sites, I can click on the bottom to then view my email when needed. And when done reading email, minimize again. It works for quite a few hours.
Better than signing in a dozen times a day.
Thank you for sharing your work around. I hope Verizon doesn't think this is a solution and thinks we all should contort ourselves needlessly. I'm buying their service. I suppose I can decide their service isn't worth buying, but it's part of my bundle. So, I'm paying for it period. Verizon really has no excuse for not developing the best product available or for not delivering what its customers are saying, quite vocally, what they want and need.
It just started and I do not like it. It is annoying . Ask me a security question every few weeks, but if I want to remain signed in, I should have that capability. Did you ever think of asking your customers what they would like? Why don't you spend the effort on Spam that keeps coming. How many email addressess do I have to block?
Completely agree with the above post......we used to be able to stay logged in for 2 weeks.......what happened?? Did Verizon in their infinate wisdom decide to hire a new IT guy who does not have a clue about customer programming or convenience?? IF anyone has a workaround on how to get around the constant logging in.......I would greatly appreciate your telling the rest of ushow to do it. Thanks.
This discriminates against we who are handicapped! No waning, no explanation, just making our email inaccessible. Please fix this ASAP! Dangerous not being able to communicate with our doctors.
I agree. Time to switch.
What a pain, having to sign in each time accessing e-mail!
Please restore the old login process which allowed the login to stay current for more than one week. It is very inefficient to have to login each time I open Internet Explorer.
After years I've had it with Verizon.
The worst web site ever.
The worst customer service
After not beening able to get to my emails without jumping through hoops-I spent hours changing my email address from verizon to outlook on all my accounts.
I have a couple of months till my contract ends and I'm canceling everything verizon.
I can get the same if not better service at half the price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How long must I suffer with this? India told me two days. How soon?
I'm having this issue too when using Verizon Yahoo for e-mail. I've seen many posts about changes made to accessing e-mail with Outlook Express, etc. but nothing for Yahoo??
What should the default access page be, would that make a difference? I'm using https://www.verizon.com/foryourhome/myaccount/...
Yes, Verizon just started needing to log in every time for e-mails. What's up with that?? What a pain. Annoying.......Hope management reads these blogs.
May I ask, why do I kep a pop up telling me my session has expired?? And then I have to sign in again, even if I just checked an hour before. Has anyone come up with a solution yet? Thanks
Problem: car no longer starts. Obvious solution: fix the engine so it starts. Verizon's solution: remove the engine! TERRIBLE THOUGHT PROCESS ON THE PART OF VERIZON!!! If there is some security problem with staying logged in for 2 weeks, fix THAT problem; don't remove the feature!
Some people have suggested using an email client, and I do. I find web-based email web pages in general to be HORRIBLY user-unfriendly, and not just Verizon's. However, I access my email with multiple computers, and it can cause email sync problems if each computer has an email client.
I just hope they use this experience as a lesson that customers DO get angry and upset when good features no longer work, and many of them WILL switch to another provider if they get angry enough. Unfortunately, when companies get too big, as Verizon has, their customer service quality goes down, and they don't care anymore.
Am I reading this right? This function will no longer be available? I do understand the need to perioticaly have to re-sign in, but not because I go to a different website and go back...or because i've been on the computer and didn't use the page for say 30 minutes. It is really annoying. I hope that I am misunderstanding that that feature will be going away completely...am I? Thank you
How Stupid does Verizon think their customer are?
I received this message when I clicked on my shortcut which takes me direct to email..."We have been experiencing problems with the "Keep Me Signed In" functionality and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
Why don't they just tell the truth an admit that they intentionally broke it to divert customers into the current "security enhancement dialog?"
I am sure this will get me kicked me off, but here are the Verizon Execs. I have already emailed oneof them and got a phone message.
http://www.verizon.com/about/our-company/executive-bios
JohnDotCom is right in saying:
Being handicapped, my email piles up as my hours are limited. At least they finally acknowledge the problem.
Denying access is a serious infringement; can't Verizon fix the problem THEY CREATED?
about a week and a half ago, the sign in process for email got more and more messy. it was never as seemless as yahoo, but now it requires login name and password every time. Lately it has had a message saying "we apologize that our remember me function is not working". What a mess! Anybody find a way around this?
This is so not Verizon. What's going with the signing in problem. It's been 2 months. Really time to change to another provider.
I was helping a blind user who will get no benefit from the "Chosen Image" part of their security enhancement and now can't get to his email. It was remined me of the pompus "Your call is important to us..." (that's why we sent it to this useless voicemail purgatory rather than just silencing the ringer).
Signing in every time...
Verizon must have just heard how much Comcast and other internet providers were making by forcing eyes onto a sign in page with ads, rather than direct to your email. Another thing that ties in with this is: once they know you are a customer they can tailor (rather modify) the ads.
OK Verizon, it is past time to fix this sign in problem. If it is not fixed soon i will go to another provider
There seems to be confused statements coming out. Supposedly it was planned to not be coming back, as confirmed by Nilda. At least one panel now comments about it being a known problem being worked on.
Congestion Management
on the network through mechanisms such as real-time throttling, blocking, or dropping of specific end user traffic. There are no usage caps applicable to Verizon Online's Internet access services
the contempt with which Verizon regards and treats it customers- the hands that feed verizon - is absolutely shameful.
The customer needs an OPT OUT to the multiple-step, 3-page, rapid-repeating, involuntary 100% signout & log-in on EVERY USE of email..
Verizon needs to REMOVE ALL CODE from its email system that disables PASSWORD-SAVING applications software from functioning.
Verizon needs to provide simply the same level of function, and same number of steps for frequent users
[ -ONE (1)]
that gmail, yahoo, comcast, etc. already have - and which verizon DID have for years before this year.
Additionally, huge contempt by verizon is exemplified by the little message "we can't let you have the choice to stay signed in any more. ..we're having problems and apologize..."??? for indefinitely or permanently inconveniencing paying customers with a much lower level of service than is available for free elsewhere. If necessary, just THROW AWAY the entire sign-in process and REPLACE it with the process of 1 year ago (at NO COST!), while ADDING the OPTIONAL choice for those who wish to use the alternative, GARBAGE system.
ALLOW customers who want the poor system to choose it. They will be few, if any, and may include only persons who do large scale unsecured banking on verizon email.
Allow ME, and all the customers contributing here their free fault isolation services, to DUMP the 100% signout every time email is used, DUMP the "picture password", DUMP the 3 page log-in, the 100% repetition of security questions and the banishment of staying signed in. Make all log-in fields & contents SAVABLE, and better yet, PROVIDE THE APP' with which to DO IT!
If you can't afford enough minimum-wage 3rd-world programmers to fix the problem, subcontract comcast to do it!
We customers selected fiber optics because it is a good data transport technology. Verizon uses this costly infrastructure strictly for GARBAGE IN- GARBAGE OUT. It is a shame on a technical level, and SHAMEFUL on a commercial, quality, customer-service and moral level. It's contempt for the hand that feeds you! The competition couldn't ask for more!
Many people are asking why Verizon doesn't go back to the previous "log in; stay logged in", but instead makes us log in every few minutes.
The answer is that they do not give a flying fig what we, the customers want. If they can save a few minutes for their other sales pitches, it's to their advantage, not to ours,
How come Google email can stay logged in, as well as Yahoo?
Something wicked this way comes.
I already ditched Verizon cable years ago. What incentive do I have to continue their email?
Yes, the only reason not to QUIT verizon is the hardship, expense and inconvenience of changing email address. That is all!
I wrote several long, constructive messages here, fully covering the issues of verizon's poor ethics, atrocious technical performance, and complete solutions to these problems. In a past entry, I already pointed out it is almost shocking beyond belief that verizon spent the money for a fiber optic infrastructure and then goes out of its way to have absolutely NO customer service or technical support sufficient to even get their own applications software up to the routine performance levels of the FREE services online. All we want, collectively, as PAYING customers, is the same capacity for login functionality that is currently available from hotmail, yahoo, comcast, etc.. This kind of tech support behind a fiber-optic infrastructure is like giving car keys to a cave man. Perhaps verizon does not want to operate an email service, and WANTS all customers to use someplace else. If they deliberately ruin the function of their email, without formal termination or removal of email services, then they can SAY they have what every competitor has, WITHOUT REALLY providing the service to their PAYING customers. They BITE the hands that feed them, while PRETENDING to provide a service -they don't- on a level that's reasonable and routine for the competitors.
Dear Moderators, PLEASE forward ALL contents & messages of this entire thread to someone at verizon who has DECISION-MAKING DISCRETION, CAPACITY and AUTHORITY.!!!!!!!!!! Thank you. RISE TO THE OCCASION.
Why do I continually have to log in to Verizon on the internet. What happen to keep me logged in. It is a realy pain hav ing to log in every time I want to check my email
When will this be repaired --its over a week and is a real **bleep** --with all the techies at verizon surely someone can solve this quickly by now
Thanks
they must have **bleep** there, you would think it would be fixed by now.this is getting to be a real pian
.....hasn't worked for about a month. How embarassing that a company like Verizon can't even figure out something as easy as this.
Well,
is it a software issue (and incompetence at this point) or a security change as posted in the lead in email?
If it is a security change, give us an opt out (or in).
If it a software problem, I'm concered that verizon can't fix a function that was working fine.
As stated many times by others, everytime my laptop goes to sleep I have to sign back in. Yet if I check my mail on my phone, no issues, never need to login.
Come on verizon. You USED to be better than this. I do not want to set up outlook, but it looks like I will have to.
I would like to sign in everytime I want to get into my E-Mails!! Do not not want to be blocked out, just because my computer is in another state other than where I orriginally pay the bill in Huntingdon Vally,PA 19006

Everytime I go to email I have to sign in with both user name and password. This has been going on for sometime and the last time I checked in with Verizon I was told it would be fixed by Apr 15th. That didn't happen, it's 4/27. Who else is having this problem and does anyone have an answer about when it will be corrected. It's a MAJOR inconvenience. Thanks1
Frustrated with the continued need to sign in each and every time I want to use e-mail. Cannot imagine what is taking a "tech" company so long to fix a problem. It was working well for years. What happened? When will it be corrected????
How can Verizon claim this is an enhancement? Why do they say they are going to remove the "remain signed in function"? These kinds of enhancements I can do without. I find this sufficiently irritating that I may just go back to Comcast.
It is a total waste of my time to get timed out, have to click on the error message box to remove it, sign in again, then take the ADDITIONAL step of adding in my password with the security picture, and THEN finally getting to my mail.
If my bank can manage a single signon screen, why can't Verizon?
guess that tells us how great a tech company it is--- It's been at least 3 weeks
It is my understanding that the "Keep me signed in" and "Remember me" functions will be back in a few days, hopefully later this week. I along with the rest of you hope that is true.

Despite the good news we will be able to sign in and stay for 2 weeks, it is not working for me. Most was 2 days, barely.

Works as well as it ever did for me. But tends to require that you start at http://verizon.com, rather than jumping to one of the later pagees. You are still definitely logged off after some actions, something that has been true for years. But if you enter at the main verizon page, it automatically logs you on again.
This official announcement is over a year old. I am having this problem now in June 2016. I am using my home desktop computer, not anything wireless.
Please see the current thread on this issue here:
