NHL Center Ice lack of HD feeds!!!!!

I'm a transplanted NJ Devils fan and so far all the games I've watched have been the "away" feed in Standad Definition!! What an absolute joke!! Makes me miss Direct TV in a big way. I'm sure there is some off the wall reason for this but it won't help the dissapointment my son and I experience when we tune in each game. Is there any hope on the horizon for better programming???

The MSG channels will not allow iNDemand to carry their HD feeds for NHL Center Ice. Even though Verizon carries MSG HD and MSG+ HD in its market, they are stuck with iNDemand for these games outside of the NY sports region. DirecTV is the only place to get these games in HD outside of the NY region because so far, they are the only company who will pay MSG more money for HD. By the way, no other regional sports network in the US or Canada demands more money for out of market HD feeds.

They are the company that provides all the out of market sports packages and pay per view events to cable companies, including Verizon.

I feel your pain brother! I moved from NJ to VA, worst decision ever, and seems like every other team but NJD I can get both SD and HD streams for away and home teams. I guess its better than nothing.

I don't care about getting the HD feed. I'll take the SD feed as long as it's my Sabres HOME ANNOUNCERS!!!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!

Breaking news! The MSG feeds now appear to be available on NHL Center Ice starting today. The schedule now lists the MSG channels with the HD feeds, saying "HD availability change". Here's this month's upadated schedule-

Just bought CI, I already had 7232dvr but on HD NHL CI it says unavailable, do the 'B' troubleshoot, wants to replace stb. Call support they are unable to see/fix anything from their end, send out new box. Get box today, activate and still same thing on HD channels?

For those with a working HD center ice channel, When a game is not actually broadcasting do the HD channels show the same matchup/lineup screen like the SD?

Not only is there a lack of HD feeds, most nights the HD feeds suffer from severe pixelation. The audio is fine, but the video is unwatchable.

The other night there was just a single early game and just two late games. My Montreal Canadiens game was the early game, from TSN, available in HD, but for some reason only available in low-def on NHL Center Ice on FiOS. **bleep**!!!

Most importantly, how to fix the pixelation???

I would prefer to sign up again for CI - I had it last year and for a week at the start of the current season - but the lack of HD feeds really is unsatisfactory. SD looks terrible after you've had HD! So I switched to NHL Gamecenter Live fed through a Roku device to my tv. I love that all the broadcasts are in HD, and you can choose between the Home and Away feeds for every game I have not yet missed a Red Wings game in HD this year, and I always get the fan friendly Red Wings announcers. But if CI offers a similar service next year, then I would likely go back to the FIOS offering. In the meanwhile, I will stay with the HD feeds on Gamecenter. I will check in with this forum periodocall to see if FIOS becomes willing to upgrade the CI package, or not.

If you prefer to always have your home feed in HD, stay with Game Center Live. Verizon gets their out-of-market channels from iNDemand, which provides only 9 HD channels that rotate feeds on different nights. Verizon has upgraded as much as they can by carrying every channel that iNDemand offers.

I am wondering how it is that NHL Gamecenter is able to get all the home and away feeds for all the games that are not televised, and iNDemand is not? If inDemand offered the same product that Gamecenter offered, then they would be competitive. But for now you can only get all these games with both home and away feeds in HD in Gamecenter. Do you think iNDemand will be offering a competitive product in the future? I just sent them an email with that question - I'll see what kind of response I get.

It's simply not practical to try to get cable systems to carry up to 30 HD feeds for every team. It's much more practical to do this online. I personally don't like the online version because I tried it last year and it was unreliable. The video quality was good most of the time, but it frequently buffered, and sometime feeds would go out altogether and say "unavailable".

I have had issues with occasional buffering with the online service, but for me that is a small price to pay for a higher quality picture. I really don't know how practical or impractical it would be for iNDemand or another provider to provide an HD feed for both teams for every game, but I know that I get many many channels right now, so a few more or less would likely not break the deal. It's also true not all of the 30 teams play at the same time. The standard def picture for the CI broadcasts look terrible on my big screen. It might be ok with a smaller screen tv, but my preference is for the bigger picture. Different strokes for different folks...

That's a huge drawback to the CI package, the SD channels look terrible. I'm spoiled since I live in the TV region of my favorite teams, so I haven't had to make the choice between online and TV subscriptions. I've just had to fight to finally get the HD versions of the overflow channels for the regional sports networks in my area.
