2 year contract expires in April, Can I drop VERIZON, since they dropped FOX?

I signed up for FIOS TV with a certain amount of tv channels that I enjoy. Now they drop 2 of them; MY 43 & FOX, and I am stuck with a plan I dont want! Will they waive the EARLY TERMINATION FEE due to them NOT prividing what I agreed to?

I'd go back to TWC, but the termination fee isn't worth it.

Most likely this will just last a few days (like the last one in the Boston area) until they can come to terms on a new contract.

Locals want to charge more and providers don't want to pay more.

We are the ones that lose out.

I'm in a similar situation. I have contacted the New York State Public Service Commission and am going to try and terminate my contract as well. I doubt that filing a PSC complaint will do a whole lot but Verizon has to have a department that responds to all PSC complaints within 48 hours. So I figure the least I can do is waste someones time over and over again to respond to the multiple PSC complaints I plan on filing. I can advise to not waste your time calling Verizon's customer service as I already tried that and the rep did not even know about the issue with Fox and MY43 (even though she said she was in NY and their call center is in Dewitt), she also acted as if I was wasting her time and basically said there was nothing she could do for me. The whole situation is a joke and I really don't care who is at fault but for $200+ a month I expect to have all the stations I signed up for.

Why does everyone always blame the cable provider in this situation?

How do you know that it is just Verizon's fault?

Last time this happened, it came out that the local FOX channel was looking for way more money than other local channels (was rumored to be in the neighborhood of what ESPN gets).

Everyone would complain if Verizon just upped our rates every time they have to sign a new contract and it costs them more money.

Oh wait, they can't because you have a contract and your price is locked in.

So they have to do what every onether business has to do, manage their costs based on their income.

We the consumers are left in the middle (no different than sports team tickets, movie tickets, etc).

Somone wants more money. Once they get it, the costs are passed on to the consumers.

I would wonder what the local channels would do if we all dropped them off of cable and went back to antennas.
The way I look at it, they get all their ad revenue, plus waht they get from the cable companies. If they only had over the air, they would lose the cable company revenue. Wonder how they would try and bill us then?

I'm sure there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides of this and I'm also sure that neither side is hurting financially. Verizon has more than enough money to pay up and provide their customers with the services they signed up for. If when it comes time for renewal and they have to raise my bill then its my decision on whether I keep their service or go elsewhere. As of now I'm stuck with them so I expect to receive what I signed up for and pay each month for and if they can't provide such then I shoudn't be obligated to stay with them.

I agree with you 100%. There is no reason why Verizon can't give it's subscribers in the Syracuse area a $5 good faith credit on our bill for January. I remember years ago when I was with Dish Network, they did this for their subscribers. Come on Verizon, settle or give us a credit on our bills. After all, you don't even cover all of Onondaga County, in fact you don't even provide service in the City of Syracuse, so it isn't going to cost millions of dollars to compensate your subscribers. Remember, you're not the only way to get television in Syracuse AND the cost of breaking the contract is nothing more than a couple months service!

I remember DISH dropping all sorts of channels, sometimes for months during negotiations, and NEVER giving me a credit. Their have been few cases (actually none that I can think of at the moment) where Verizon didn' fairly quickly come to an agreement for a local channel.

You do realize not only are you NOT going to get a credit, you're going to get a HIGHER bill. Once again most of you don't get it (those of you who are really customers and not FOX interns creating accounts just to post negative messages) FOX wants Verizon, i.e. YOU to PAY MORE MONEY to carry their channels. That is what it comes down to. FOX wants more subscriber fees for their channels, and who do you think in the end pays it!?!?! Sure as heck is NOT Verizon.

It could be Verizon picking up the extra as I'm sure it wouldn't break their bank but they would rather act as if they have your best interests at heart while you still pay your same bill each month for less services. They run all their pr **bleep** and people eat it up but then will be shocked when they still will face a price increase in the future. Also before you call me a FOX intern, let me say that they are just as much to blame in this. Its one greedy {word filter avoidance} entitiy versus another and us the consumers lose. The lack of communication on both sids of this is appaling, Verizon has posted no new update in 2 days and has removed all of FOX's program listings from their guide. So should we all infer that this is going to last quite a long time. Verizon owes their customers more and should be doing something more to show their committment to their customers other than offering a month free of premium channels as what good is that when you already have the top tier package and get all the channels in the first place. I don't think asking for more updates, at the very least, is too much.

I didn't lose out. I just hooked up a ten dollar antenna and got fox in hd for free. I don't need to do any more.
