Will the Cricket world cup 2015 be shown on Fios? I have the sports pass with Willow on channel 806 but don't see the matches scheduled when I scroll using the guide.
You have to know what channel would carry the games.
Once you knwo that, then you can see if FIOS has that channel and what package would be required to see it.
ESPN holds the rights and it appears to be available only as an online streaming subscription or PPV with some companies. No word if FIOS will offer as PPV as some providers are appearing to do.

Any updates on this? I see Dish is offering the Cricket World Cup package.
I contacted FIOS customer support on chat and was told Willow will show the matches. I highly doubt it though as Willow's own site doesn't mention world cup matches. So still confused and keeping fingers crossed for world cup on FIOS. Can anyone from Verizon FIOS actually confirm or deny that the matches will be made available - either thru Willow or as a PPV package?
Willow will NOT stream this event as ESPN is the sole provider in USA. Whoever from FIOS customer support told you this doesn't have an idea.
ESPN has mentioned they will be providing cricket coverage through DISH, Time Warner Cable and Mediacom. No mention of Verizon.
If there is enough interest on these forums we might be able to push Verizon to sign up with ESPN.....
Yesterday, i was told in chat by verizon sales rep to contact verizon customer support today (02/10) to find out whether ESPN cricket world cup is available in verizon pay per view. Today i will call customer support again and if they have no information then i will immediately disconnect FIOS and switch to either DISH or TWC. I badly want to watch cricket world cup in TV in HD.
any update from the customer service?
I was told on chat that we need to check and confirm if willow or ESPN are broadcasting the world cup thru Verizon. There are 2 options to access ESPN and Willow (1) either signup for the Sports Pass , or (2) upgrade/opt in for Utlimate TV package. I think, the chat reps dont have any clue what we are looking for.
Verizon Fios - please plan on showing us the ICC cricket world cup some how ! No one seems to be interested in paying 100 bucks for online viewership..ESPN's pilot plan of testing this online coverage on the world cup sucks ! Let us enjoy our game on normal television.Hope to get a conifrmed answer before the 13th !
Not Verizon's call.
ESPN owns the rights and only plans to do via streaming or PPV.
Precisely. But can we implore Verizon to speak with ESPN to include cricket for its subscribers...I would rather pay Verizon than ESPN...I don't want to stream from my ipad to the Tv....
is there a forum to request new channels? Let's all pls push Verizon to show the world cup even if it's a PPV package. I don't want to have to stream to my TV ; bandwidths are going to be choked for high profile matches.
DISH is offering the World Cup package to its customer for 99 cents only. I am sure Verizon can buy rights from ESPN and price it within reason for its subscribers....
Any update on this? Whats the dealio with the ripoff $99
Spoke to a rep. It looks like no WC Cricket on Fios. He asked me to buy from ESPN.
Tough luck. Verizon doesn't care much for cricket fans. Some of us desperate enough will end up shelling out $100 bucks for this....Sucks....
Was informed on chat with customer support that Verizon is working on it and will update everyone via email and on website if/when the world cup package is made available. Don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling .....
Folks,
Am on phone with fios customer service and she is saying that it will be available on willow tv. They were told about the availability this morning...She seemed very confident about it. Its available as of 13 Feb onwards...
Interesting. Several conflicting statements. If Willow will show then it only means that ESPN is selling or sharing the feed. Fingers crossed...
I heard the same from customer support a few times but find it hard to believe as Willow's own website makes no mention of it. Also looked at programming on Willow for the 13th and didnt see any mention of the world cup.
Fingers crossed. Going to wait till Feb 13th and will finally end up buying the streaming package from ESPN if not made available on FIOS but definitely not my preferred approach.
this is the chat discussion I had just now....don't know what's happening...have to check again tomorrow
(edited to comply with forum guidelines)

Can anyone from Verizon product team confirm or deny that world cup will be made available on FIOS? Lots of us on this thread have been assured by Verizon customer support that they will show the world cup matches and I'm sure some haven't switched providers based on that assurance. At this point, switching is out of the question so would like a concrete answer if the matches will be shown or not.
I heard that xfinity is showing on ESPN free for their subscribers. Not sure if this is true.
According to the only info I can find from ESPN online, they only reached PPV deals with Dish, Mediaom and TWC.
I Just spoke to a customer care person. They said ICC cricket world cup is being offered on chennel 70 and 74 . and for HD its on chennel 570 and 574. Its espn and espn2. Those chennels are available to Preffered HD customers and above. If you have select HD package, you wont be able to view the matches. i have my fingers crossed. lets wait till tomorrow evening..Otherwise espn online option is available anyways.
Good Luck
Willow does not have the rights for ICC cricket worldcup as of now. ESPN is offering the event on their own chennels. Verizon has the espn chennels maybe thats why the rights were not given to willow tv. cuz it wuld have had been two events going on at the same time. Willow tv is showing Ranji trophy and at the mean time espn is showing icc world cup.
IF YOU HAVE SELECT HD PACKAGE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO WATCH THE MATCHES.
YOU NEED TO SUBCRIBE TO PREFFERED HD OR ABOVE TO WATCH THESE CHENNELS.
CHENNEL 70 AND 74
FOR HD CHENNEL 570 AND 574
ON GUIDE EVEN IF ITS SHOWING DIFFERENT PROGRAMS THAT DOESNT MATTER. CHECK THE TIMINGS FOR MATCH AND THEY WILL BE ON THESE CHENNELS AT THE EXACT TIME.
GOOD LUCK
Don't kid yourself.
There is no way ESPN is going to put Cricket on 570 and 574 for month and half. Those 2 channels are their prime channels especially after they paid tonne of money for rights to college basketball and NBA.
So don't believe what they say about 570 and 574. They could be on other channels but definetly not on these 2 channels.
It looks like both Willow and ESPN offering

I am not getting a stright answer (Yes / No) from verizon customer service. This is really frustrating. I would prefer to pay verizon and watch on TV, rather subscribing to a streaming offering. The verizon customer service folks are still saying that Verizon is still negotiating to telecast and will be confirming soon. Not sure about it.
My heart would like to bleieve they will put this on 570/574 but my head thinks otherwise....No harm in checking and if they don't have it on...least we can do is either move from FIOS or just but the $100 package from ESPN
Verizon Customer Service is not confirming whether they are going to show cricket.
I would prefer watching it on TV than the streaming service... I highly doubt if its going to come.
Mostly not Verizons fault (other than maybe offering a shot at PPV).ESPN won the rights and has decided to make it available via streaming.
They did sign a few PPV agreements (DISH, Mediaom and TWC), but the two largest carriers did not (Comcast and DirecTv) along with a lot of others.
So direct most of your frustration at ESPN.
Just had a chat with FIOS rep and it seems theres no World Cup Cricket from FIOS, its a huge shame for Verizon to be saying a leading provider, they havnt offered NBC Live Extra on TV for 2 yrs which almost all other providers do n now nt even PPV offer for Cricket World Cup.
Great response from Verizon FIOS
Frustrating. Doubly so because many on this thread were assured by Verizon customer support that it will be available.
I talked to FiOS rep 2 times over the last 2 days on Chat. They confirmed that it will be on ESPN (570, 574) - need to be on Preferred HD package or above.
DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. they do not have the correct information.
There is no way a 45 day event will be shown on 570 or 574.
Verizon FiOS - You should seriously start thinking about doing something for Millions of Cricket Loving Fans in USA. You are loosing out on Fans that love the game and will stay up all night to watch this sport. With 16 Countries Playing in 2015 World cup and 80% of those countries having large population residing in USA, you got to be serious about this Sport.
Even ESN finally caught up. It's sad Other TV providers have signed up with ESPN while you didn't.
Fans will find a way to see the game, it's your loss. Wake up or loose out !!

They are wrong as usual. You can go to ESPN.com and look at what is scheduled on all their cable channels through 2/23 and Cricket is no where to be found. Just lots and lots of College Basketball. It looks like the only way to get it on ESPN is through their on line streaming Pay Per View.
Please figure out a way to make this available through verizon, otherwise you will end up with a lot of disappointed customers.
Would it be possible to provide a separate temporary channel for the word cup and charge the one time subscription fee to cover the ESPN cost?
As I stated before, maybe ESPN didn't want to offer it through Verizon.
Has anyone asked ESPN why they aren't offering PPV via Verizon as they are on Dish and others?
I talked to verizon customer care a week back for 30 mins, they told It will be available on Willow TV - 806. I asked them if they are sure about this, they said they are sure. Then i subscribed to sports package. now i keep my fingers crossed whether it will be available or not. Shame for you Verizon. Its already 13th you are still not sure whether its available or not.
Sorry to break this to you. Least you could have done is checked on the Willow tv site to se if they have any mention of this. FIOS will not be covering the Worl Cup despite some of their misinformed reps assuring some of the people on this forum. if they planned to do so, they would not hesitate to advertise.
Willow has a poor Customer care service, it does not even display their customer care number on the website, I sent them 3 mails about worldcup 2015 did not got a reply yet. In the mean time Verizon customer care confidently confirms it is available on Willow TV Poor customer care from Verizon as well. Some of my friends able to reach willow customer care by some other means and they confirmed they have no plans of showing Worldcup Cricket as of now.
Please go and submit your feedback to ESPN on twitter and Also on ESPN Cricinfo: http://submit.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/submit/forms/feedback.html
I just checked the ESPN Cricket page and you can call them or email them for your feedback:
http://espn.go.com/espncricket2015/faq#category-0-1
Call ESPN Customer Care at 1-888-549-ESPN (3776)
It's nothing to do with ESPN. I spoke with them and they clearly indicated that Verizon did not show any interest to broadcast the PPV package. Only Dish, Mediacom and TWC showed interest and worked out the deal.
call Verizon and vent your frustration. I called them a few times and talked with some of the supervisors as well. Basically, they did not care about this event...
I am going to see if I can ditch Fios and go to Dish or TWC if they can come and install it in the next 24 hours. That way, I can get the PPV package and watch it on TV
BTW, One of the reps said to keep checking on FIOS alerts to see if they offer the PPV package.....in case they are able to workout the deal with ESPN...
I guess Verizon made many believe until the last moment that they will be showing the world cup through their broadcasting channels so the subscribers don't switch to other providers like Dish where they telecast the world cup.
The streaming service ESPN is piloting with world cup cricket 2015 will only work if the cusotmers can view the program without any 'buffering' issue, like the programs telecast through the cable providers.
I think there is going to be unhappy customers, both ESPN (may not subscribe to any future live events using streaming services) and Verizon (loose customers to other providers like Dish who telecast the worldcup) will lose some in this process.
If the streaming works fine then it is a Win for ESPN, but for Verizon I think it is going to be loosing some customers either way.
I totally agree. VEROZON! wake-up
Someone shdoulf reach out to their senior management. The folks who answer the phone or chat are powerless
Excellent Idea.. So where is this button for reaching out to the senior management so i can let them know some desi boys in the US need to watch the game ASAP. Lol
ESPN paid for the rights and decided to show the tournament online, and a few networks on PPV. Either buy it via ESPN or the networks. Verizon doesnt have so Move on with your day.
I am not paying ESPN $99 for a streaming solution.
If I am happy with streaming I can go rogue and find some streaming solution online. There are tonnes of those for practically free or fraction of the cost if you know where to look.
The whole point is watch in HD on FIOS without having to deal with buffering issues or stream quality.
NZl vs. SRI match started at 17:00 EST, I checked in ESPN CHannel 570, 574 & Willow 805 in Verzion FIOS. No broadcast. I cahtted with FIOS customer service, they still saying buy SPorts Pass, I said I have it already. After the brief silence the chat got disconnected. Will be calling FIOS to cancel my sportspass.
Wow. I've heard of (and encountered) bad customer support but now they're just flat out lying about world cup being available on FIOS. To me, that's the worst part about this debacle - if we had know all along that it won't be available, then could have looked at other providers. Instead all we got were conflicting statements and/or reassurances that it will be made available. This sucks!
i am also very upset that they are not showing the games, when all other providers are showing them,
called them and they want me to call espn .
VERY POOR SERVICE, SENIOR MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO CHANGE AT VERIZON
That's the part you have wrong.
Most providers are not showing them.
Just Dish, Mediaom and TWC have deals where you can get PPV.
Verizon needs to cater to Cricket loving fans and someone who is monitoring this forum should pose a question to upper management, if they really want to retain their customers.
Any update from Fios yet? This is really dissapointing to see it is not available through FIOS and it is available on all other cable services.

The matter is closed, see the pinned topic:

The ONLY way to get it is through ESPN and thier streaming service for $99. It is not available anywhere on FiOS. And your statement about it being carried on "ALL" other cable services is incorrect, Comcast and Directv are not offering it either. Only DISH, TWC and Mediacom seem to be carrying it.
