MLB Extra Innings and MLB.tv

When I received an email stating that my MLB Extra Innings package was going to be renewed, it also said that I would get free access to MLB.TV. That would be great, but it gave no information about how to get that for free. When I go to access it, they want to change me 109 for the season. How do I get access to this without paying?

I imagine as the season gets closer to starting, they will let us know how to access mlb.tv, but unfortunately we will be missing at least some of the spring training coverage mlb.tv has, and extra innings does not.

Has anybody actually been able to sign up for MLB Extra Innings with FiOS yet? When I try to order it through the above link, I get the following message on my account page:

This channel cannot be ordered, as it is part of a package which is bundled with your current TV plan or an existing channel. Check below for additional Premium Channels available to you.

It's obviously not part of a bundled channel package either.

MLBTV by itself for the premium edition is just $129.99. I hook my laptop up to the TV and watch in HD. You also have the option of overlay listening to the radio broadcast of the game or just the ballpark sounds. You also have DVR functionality and every game,spring training and regular season is archived for later viewing. Also you receive a free subscription to MLB At Bat 14 for your phone or tablet devices. Probably more I'm forgetiing. Basically you are paying $70 more for the access of games through your TV. But you can do that just as easy by hooking your laptop up to your TV. My recommmendation is just to buy the MLBTV Premium and save yourself $70.

That might work well for you, but not in my situation. Since the Mets and Tigers are my two favorite teams - and I live in the NY area - I cannot receive Mets broadcasts on MLB.TV. And when I want to flip between the games, it's a much more seamless experience using a single box then switching inputs, audio streams and all that nonsense. Not to mention the feed quality isn't dependant on streaming. So, totally worth the extra $70 to have them combined. And with my Slingbox, I can watch both teams if I happen to be on the road in an area in which MLB.TV blacks out the games. Win-win here.

Even with a fast connection, the quality of the hd channels on fios is superior to mlb.tv hd. If you are like me, when home, you want to minimize switching inputs on your tv as much as possible. It's much easier to go back and forth from live tv to mlb games when it's on fios tv.

Although the xbox one is supposed to have the mlb tv app, and it's easier to do everything at once if you have fios hooked up to it.

Couldn't agree more. And while I enjoy the fact that MLB.TV can be used on my iPad and iPhone, 99 percent of the time I'm watching it at home and I don't want to watch it streaming on my TV.

I went here: https://secure.mlb.com/tv/activate/

But after putting in my credentials, I get:

"Authorization service was not able to complete authorization at this time. Please try again later."

Has anyone gotten this to work?

I get an error stating that I must subscribe to MLB Extra Innings when I try to connect. Very frustrating. Plus on TV the HD channels are not working, only SD channels. Talked to user help and 'they are working on it'.

Definitely frustrating, especially since they advertised it... If you learn anything helpful, could you post?

Hmm, worked fine for me on iPhone, iPad and the TV channels - and I used that above link.

I am having a simliar issue, the MLB site can not authenticate my service

Per the MLB site , I have no active subscription

Verizon told me yesterday that the MLB.com is not ready yet

I know a couple of Veizon FIOS customers that watched games yesterday on their PC

I am guessing that people that auto renewed are having the issue

Tried again today and it was successful, at least on iPhone. Have not tried on ipad or pc.

My account was validated today, I used Google chrome and not IE 10 to access the mlb site

Just chatted with Verizon agent because my husband wanted to watch preseason games on MLBtv since we have the Verizon MLB package. He could not access the "free" MLBtv and verizon says the free access does not start until the regualr season begins. The email that verizon sent out about the MLB package and free MLBtv access vaguely states that the free access doesn't begin until the regular season. If you didn't read the email closely, like my husband and I, you would assume that you can watch preseason games on MLBtv for free. NOT THE CASE!
