Today (2/28/17) host station WJLA (Washington, DC) suddenly and unceremoniously dumped Me-TV, one of our most favorite channels on Fios. Is there any way Verizon can grab the Me-TV feed from WWBT in nearby Richmond, VA?
No.
These channels are sub channels of the main (like wjla).
As Verizon doesn't have contracts from them for your area, there is nothing they can do.
Your best bet is to complain to wjla about them dropping me TV.
Has anyone else noticed that in the programming guide, Channel 462 (ME.TV) is totally wrong? Not the wrong time, the wrong shows, everything is wrong.
It's on all my cable boxes, my Droid App, my Ipad app, and even the Verizon web site.
I called them yesterday about the problem, and they blamed bad data from Me.TV (Though ME.TV has correct information on their web site)'
It's completely thrashed my DVR recordings.
Double check, I found that while the guide is wrong, the Me.TV programming is still there on channel 462.
So it had been announced that WJLA would drop ME TV on 2/28 and replace with a network that is run but its owners called Charge TV.
The guide provider that Verizon uses had updated the guide accordingly. For some reason (can't find it yet) WJLA either didn't switch or switched and then switched back to Me TV.
That is why the guide got out of whack.
According to the latest info from MeTV, (as of March 24, 2017) FoxDC (WTTG) will be picking up MeTV on Channel 5.3 through the airwaves. No word from either Verizon or Comcast (yet) as to whether or when they will add it to their channel selection(s).
As of Friday 462 was still me.tv
Hmm today the channel is labeled charge tv, but the programming is clearly me.tv.
We want our, We want our Me-TV. (Guitar riff)
Me TV said they will not be available on 462 after Monday March 27th. Didn't see a notice in message center. This is one of my favorite stations.
Does anyone have a point of contact where we could ask FIOS to add the WTTG ME.TV channel?
I am sure calling support would do no good.
This is a peer to perr forum.
Verizon doesn't respond with info on what channels are going to be carried.
In order to carry both Charge TV (If and when WJLA carries it) and MeTV from WTTG, they will have to add another channel.
Will probably require a change to agreement with WTTG to carry another channel (think money).
Verizon doesn't respond to requests for channel adds.
Looking at MeTV website, none of the major cable companies in the DC area are listed as carrying this new sub channel. Will probably take some time for them to get plumbed up.
Yes, we want Me-TV back! They say we can watch it on WTTG 5.3 over the air. Does anyone know what that means and how to do it?
You have to attach a digital antenna to your TV and tune into it like a broadcast channel
What's even worse is that the new channel is pretty poor.
a lot of repeats of a few bad movies.
at least what I have seen so far.
Agreed. I've gone to H&I for now.
WTTG, CHannel 5 has said they will be picking upMeTV on over the air channel 5.3; don't know when this will occur; hope Fios will pick up this channel as I'm too far awat to receive is over the air signal!
I want ME TV back!! Why did you take this off??? This is one of the main channels my family watches for all the old shows..........we dont need another repetitive movie channel like the Charge TV that you have put in its place. My daughters have COX and they have kept ME TV so I'm sure Verizon can too.
Agreed, consider this a vote for bringing back me TV and dumping Charge as well.
Verizon had no choice in this matter.
WJLA dropped ME TV from the Washington DC area.
WTTG has said they will be picking it up.
It might take some time for Verizon to get the channel carried.
From the ME TV Website, COX has picked it up, but neither Verizon nor Comcast have as of yet.
As said it was you locals that made the change. Most similar changes in the past have resulted in Verizon picking up the other local subchannel eventually, but nothing says that will happen in this case.
Regretably Verizon almost never comments about what channels they are adding in advance.
MeTV has moved in the Washington, D.C., area to digital broadcast channel 5.2, WTTG-DT, the local Fox affiliate. I would like to know if FiOS is going to pick this up. I really miss it and I hope they restore it soon.
I mean, they show Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, and a number of other classics unavailable anywhere else.
But in seeking to replace its slot in my Logitech remote control favorites, I discovered "Heroes & Icons" on Channel 15, which shows all the different flavors of Star Trek (including DS9, the best-written of the bunch) and NYPD Blue.
I've switched over to H&I as well, but miss my Hogan's Heroes, Wonder Woman, and The Wild Wild West!
Hi, This week Me-TV moved stations in washington DC area (from 7-2 to 5-2) and we lost it on FIOS. Can anyone give an update on when it will be back? Cox already has it back :-(.
Thanks for any information!
A hotly debated item on these forums. The basic answer is "Verizon will not say anything until they have actually offered the channel again." Not even a statement about whether they are in negotiations or not.
Maybe reach out to wttg for comment.
WTTG-5 SAID TO CONTACT VERIZON FIOS TO HAVE THEM ADD A CHANNEL FOR MeTV. BOTH VERIZON AND XFINITY ARE MOVING SLOW ON THIS THOUGH! LET'S GET MeTV BACK ON THE AIR! APPARANTLY IT'S NOT TOO MUCH TROUBLE TO ADD ANOTHER SPANISH STATION?
Which brings us back to the question, how do we contact FIOS about requests to add channel? Given that I'm writing them a pretty sizable check every month, you think there'd be some way to get customer service at this level.
Gotta love being trapped between one organization issuing a "No Comment" and the other not saying anything at all.
They never answer such questions. I've seen some such moves done immediately and others taking many months. Probably has to do with what agreements they have in place with the local channels and if there is space immediately available.
I want Verizon FIOS to bring back ME TV to its FIOS LINE UP!
I've been with Verizon one way or another for about 30 plus years. I really never had any problems, until now!! Other networks responded fairly quick to the metv scandal which is gradually becoming a conspiracy theory. Lol. But really apparently there are a lot of people including myself that want me tv back. As I searched the channel lineup there seems to be quite a few open slots. I volunteer with one station now and I use to volenteer at a public access tv station and if there is space on a lineup and the programming is approved they air it. Verizon please give us a hint or something about our favorite METV!!! Either we are or we are not!! 😢
When I called the other day I asked if anyone from Verizon ever looks at the Forums. The person I spoke with said "I'm sure they do." I'm beginning to wonder.
This is generally a peer to peer support forum.
You won't see comments from Verizon here.
And they have said in the past that they do not comment on upcoming stations until a deal is done.
I would think the fact that Comcast is not carrying this channel either (not sure how many others also are not) could mean that it is not just Verizon holding it up.
I am hoping that Verizon will take note and add WTTG 5.3 . I love MeTV watching Perry Mason each weeknight. I feel out of sorts and can't believe such a popular network is gone. Really too bad.
First, I just want to compliment KatrinaDad on a terrific title for this post. 🎶 Get your Matlock for nothing and your Cheers for free
Second, I am just adding my voice to the chorus of calls to bring back MeTV to the FIOS lineup. Though a forum post may not be the mechanism that gets something done in this case it at least provides a way for us to gather and know that there are many of us who feel the same way about this channel and can provide updates on any changes, like the pickup by WTTG OTA. Hopefully Verizon will be able to re-add it soon.
As of 4-21-2017 Comcast will be carrying MeTv / WTTG 5.3 in DC market. How about it Fios?
we had the same problem here in NYC the channel for H&I changed formats to religous programing and we lost it, however verizon has it in upstate NY. I want it back I liked it
These are sub channels.
What's available in some areas may not be available in others.
All depends on what the local channels in your area carry.
On April 21st Comcast returned MeTV back to their customers. It is time for Fios to now do the same. Somehow we the customers need to impress upon you (Verizon) that we like this station and want it back asap. Personally I will never ever watch Charge just on general principles but will switch to Comcast in the future if we do not get it back. Asking nicely here!
Unfortunately, based upon statements made here. Verizon doesn't read these forums, and has no method of communication with customers regarding customer desires for programming.
Take that for what it's worth.
Fox5 WTTG 5.1 is now carying MeTV on their 5.3 sub-channel. So it seems to me Verizion can get it from there. They might even be legally required to carry all the local broadcast channel's sub-channels (just guessing).
Me-TV has one of the biggest Facebook followings online, stupid of Verizon to let it dissapear. Probably will switch to Cox cable when my contract expires in a few...
And another week passes. Nothing from Verizon....
It depends on their contract with WTTG.
Local channels have the optioon of must carry (which cable providers do for free) or ask for pay and negotiate.
I am guessing that WTTG is big enough to be in the pay option. So Verizon has to negotiate the price. There are two sets of costs for a channel.
Fixed costs (to connect to content provider) and per subscirber costs.
Fixed costs are the same whether there is 1 subscriber or 10 million.
Only leverage is on per subscriber costs.
Verizonb has to amke a deal that is the most cost effective for them and subscribers.
Why do you consistently accept bad customer service from Verizon, and consistently blame WTTG?
Just re-signed my Fios contract only to learn that Me tv was dropped!
Very disappointed.
Fios tv/internet scheduled for installation this week. Specifically asked about MeTV availability. Two different customer service people ( one last week and one today) said that it is on FIOS. Tonight I checked MeTV website and FIOS is not listed as provider. Then checked FIOS channel list for Ultimate service and couldn't find it there either. Tomorrow I do believe I will be cancelling FIOS tv installation.
I was also told MHz channels were available, but I couldn't find them on the channel list.
Verizon is NOT a ME-TV provider, I don't know any of the Cable providers that are. However in many areas its carried by your Local TV station as a sub channel. This thread is about the fact that iME-TV recently moved from one Local TV station to another in one are and last anyone posted it wasn't yet available on Verizon FIOS.
I will be another one who will switch. Fed up with the high bills. New customers are treated better and given more than customers who have been with Verizon for 10+ years. I got nothing when I signed up. DirectTV gives 4 free rooms and DVR players, etc.
I don't have HD so can't get it.
I had to fire up my old OTA antenna in the attic so I could watch a few of my favorite programs on WTTG's 5.3 METV channel. Of course I can't DVR anything though. We're in Fredericksburg, but the antenna uses an external amplifier which helps bring it in.
While losing WJLA's feed was out of Verizon's control, I'm disappointed that they're apparently dragging their feet while other cable providers wasted little time in adding METV back to their lineup. It won't surprise me if it never returns. It's funny that when we lose channels, our bill never seems to go down.
Is Verizon even trying to get MeTv back in the Fairfax, VA area???
This is a peer to peer support forum.
Verizon doesn't comment on channel adds.
That being said, I can't imagine why they wouldn't be.
Had anyone found any way to issue a request for this channel to Verizon?
Sad that Cox would be on top of it, and Verizon not.
Has anyone tried to contact WTTG for their side of the story?
Its possible their fee is too high for Verizon.
In addition to per subscriber costs for a channel, there is also a fixed fee to connect.Cox and Comcast are bigger than Verizon, so easier to spread those charges around.
Or they could have conditions that Verizon can't accomodate (maybe a set channel number that is occupied).
Not trying to remove Verizon from responsibility, but there are always two sides of a story.
Me Tv abruptly was dropped from the Fios line up on March 28th and has yet to be restored. What is being done on the part of Verizon to restore this excellent Network to our line up?
There is already a thread on this subject.
Verizon did not drop the channel.
The main channel that was carrying MeTv dropped it.
Verizon has not yet come to agreement with the new station carrying the channel.
It is unknown which side is the hold up.
I love it, i'm gone for all this time (hiatus due to mis-understandings here) then, i return to this. (abbreviated laugh) Let me say this, this is reminding me (unfortunately) of when Verizon decided to remove the FUNimation channel #262 from the network. No matter how many petitioners we had, and, trust me, there were a lot of us back in the day, it made not one [1] iota of difference. People called, wrote in, started independent petitions and protests - - all to no avail. As a matter of fact, they even took away FUNimation's "On Demand" presence. I hate to be a "downer", but, just wanted to provide you guys with this "heads up" not to expound too many resources on this. Verizon does not care, they just don't - - take it from someone who has gone down this miserable path already.
Let me add, i'm not even from the generation who would necessarily appreciate shows like The Big Valley etc. but, even i, have a respect for shows like Bonanza and The Virginian. As a matter of fact, i wish the Virginian could be adapted into like a Batman The Animated Series to influence a new generation that loves animated shows. The Virginian instilled a lot of decent values, many of which, this generation could stand to use. Anyhow, you might still be able to access Westerns on INSP.
Take care,
H.B.
I'm understanding cord cutters more and more.
Wish MeTV back on FIOS service. I have missed so many shows that is longer available on FIOS....Why.....
According to Verizon, Esquire Network, channel 160, will leave the FIOS lineup around 6/28/17. Verizon, just use channel 160 in the DC region to put METV back on, please? Why does this have to be brain surgery?
Its probably not a matter of space.
Verizon and WTTG (the main channel that carries Me TV in DC) have to come to a financial agreement. Then it can be connected and programmed.
We have no idea what the hold up is. Could be that Verizon hasn't started their neogtiations, WTTG may not be ready for negotations or they two can't come to a financial agreement.
For channel content, there are tyically two charges. A fixed charge (for connecting) then a per subscriber charge. Other cable companies have come to agreements. Its possible they have more customers so they can get a better deal than Verizon can.
I understand that Verizon is the cable provider. But has anyone reached out to WTTG for their side of the story?
Heck.. NO METV - and I am leaving Comcast for this.. Verizon has to have 24 hours a day 7 days a week METV. I guess I will cancel my installation now until Verizon does have it.
Yay!!!! Me-TV is finally back on Fios!!!! Channel 489. It took a while and I didn't think you'd get the channel back in the lineup but you did it. Thanks, Fios!
Yay!
No message from Verizon, but my recordings came back.
only took five months.
Nope, no message from Verizon - you would think they would tell us what they're adding since they're constantly telling us what they're removing. I actually got a message back from MeTV that I sent in months ago letting me know they were on 489. Very happy to have this back.
Thank you, Oh Great and Powerful Wizard of FiOS, for showing mercy and returning this small earthly pleasure to us . We will never know how or why, but who are we, insignificant paying customers, to question or seek answers of any kind.
cadaeibf explains,
"who are we, insignificant paying customers, to question or seek answers of any kind..."
I just want to take some time to say, first, that response was epic.
Now, if we could just get FUNimation back...
I will admit, i am surprised about this development, makes me wonder what kind of blackmail someone had on someone else to make this happen. (laughs) Overall, i wouldn't get too cozi, for when the numbers show otherwise, the channel will be gone just as quick as it was added... You may ask, "Why?" I will take a quote from my previous post,
(Muscle Man voice from Regular Show ) "Verizon does not care, they just don't..."

@cadaeibf explains,
I am sure nothing of the kind. Verizon did want to add the me-tv back, but they never explain whether it was strictly a technical issue, price negotiatons or what that caused it to take longer than some people wanted. The did have to get a new feed to replace the old from the channel that no carries me-tv in that area.
The abovementioned explains,
"I am sure nothing of the kind..."
More or less, my post was not to be taken too seriously, however, given past precedent, it seems as though Verizon will take the path less consulted. Removals of the following clearly demonstrate that: RFD-TV, The Weather Channel, Tennis Channel, not to mention the most egregious- FUNimation Channel. It's ridiculous. We pay a higher premium with Verizon to have access to networks that say a typical cable provider will not offer. Yet, every time i turn around, another network is being removed without consulting the community at large.
The case with FUNimation is especially a sticking point insofar as there are hundreds of channels that could have been removed easily, yet, FUN was singled out. The ONE channel i had any use for. No matter, i have a premium subscription to their Website directly, but, annoying, in that monies have to be allocated for both. If it was exclusively up to me, Verizon would have been thrown out like yesterday's garbage, and, i would be setting up DirecTV.
I'm always amused when i log in here and i see that post explaining something to the effect of,
"Forgive us Verizon for test-driving another provider..."
(demure sounding) Please.
Sincerely,
