Fios installation/malware

Hey. I was just watching a video about routers and realized that routers could be hacked. I began to wonder if the verizon technician who installed Fios ont and router (using my own) in my house has placed a malware or any kind of virus so now he can view all of the traffic on network. Is this possible? what should be done if this was the case? feeling paranoid

All VZ router and network devices have TR-069 backdoors which can be used to adjust settings and fetch information about your network. Unless you build your own router from ground up, I don't see any way around this besides trusting your router provider.

Even before the router, the OLTs in the COs have Legal interception features which can be used to capture all traffic flowing to and from your network. Legal interception is being advertised as a feature in the telecom market rather than a privacy concern. To get around this, you need to build your own Internet.
