Fios RTT Delay Std. Dev. Increase

Question

I recorded an increase  of the IPv4 & IPv6 RTT packet delay standard deviations that started on February 15, 2023 at 01:00:00.  (note: no local network changes to any hardware or software)

There is not any perceptible difference in network performance but I am curious if I should be concerned or if anyone else has seen this?

What is the endpoint being pinged? It's possible you're seeing the result of Control Plane Policing if what you're pinging is a router on Verizon's backbone. ICMP is usually de-prioritized compared to other traffic. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you're seeing reduced performance in games, bandwidth, etc.

It's also possible, given the time period, Verizon performed maintenance, and your router has changed a bit. Perhaps your IP changed and is now going over different link bundles in the backbone. Or perhaps there's a network problem, and you're seeing a route-around.
