If you could change Android, how would you?

I think the title speaks for itself, but I want to ask again anyway: How would you change Android if you could?

I think that the one thing I would want to change would be the terrible fragmentation that it has. It could and would be relieved if only that put at least 1-2 GB of internal memory in it. Also, I would really love to see Apps2SD card sometime soon.

I want to hear your opinion too. :smileyhappy:

I think it really needs app storage on sd card. If they enable that that functionality you can get away with having less memory, because it wont be used on app storage.

Google needs to stop fragmenting the Android OS into different updates and versions. It doesn't make sense to have different devices with different versions of software for each carrier. The HTC Eris and the Motorola Droid are obviously the prime examples of this; the Droid will get the 2.1 update long before the HTC Eris does.

This makes it difficult for application developers to create an app that they know will function across all platforms of Android, it also makes it difficult for the carrier to support multiple versions of the OS and train their reps to know which versions have which features etc.

This fragmentation is the same thing that happened to Linux and it's one of the huge reasons why it doesn't have a dominant share in the desktop OS game. Too many different versions of Linux with too many different features, applications and in some cases different CPU instruction sets.

Android is an extremely powerful OS with potentially limitless possibilities and implementations, but without Google getting their act together and being consistent, they may fall the way of the poor little tuxedo clad penguin.

I ran for the droid as soon as i could . now disappointed. the only thing the droid has is fast browsing, apps that dont work 90 % of the time. no mms messaging, and good gps. mms messaging is half the fun of useing a smartphone between fam/ friends. and no adjustable repeating reminders on any call or text or email. only default ring tone for all contacts n notificatoins. they have a long way to go to catch blackberry . its like a palm on steroids.def not what was expected. i returned the brick and went back to bb. the moto devour was more interesting to use. also returned.. !!!!!

Add an option to choose how contacts are sorted.
An option to turn off double touch zooming in apps that support multitouch.
A feature that would hypnotize a phone's owner and issue a post hypnotic suggestion to prevent whining about not having the latest version of Android on their phone.

I'd like to see more updates come in. My HTC G1 is running on 1.6 firmware. Seems like my phone is the last behind in line. I'd also like to see more full keyboards come out. Android phone that is touch screen & has a slider keyboard on the side. Maybe that is the manufactures part?
