Disable Music Choice App/Widget?

Is there a way to disable to Music Choice app/widget?

My dad likes to switch between TV and his favorite Music Choice channel, but Verizon upgraded his STB, and the new box's behavior is to play a few seconds of the channel, but then switch over to the app. Once in the app, the stupid app menu appears on the screen, and then the app needs to be exited to be able to switch to channels.

Is there a way to disable the stupid app, or at least keep it from overriding the channel?

This was asked a bit ago, and there is no solution yet. Contact Verizon here and ask for some help getting this fixed:

The linkable to contact verizon gets a gateway timeout. They have no interest in helping or solving the problem.
