Mobile Number Unavailable for Linking

Hello,

I recently had my number transferred over to me from my parents. Everything seems to have gone as it should with the transfer process. However, when attempting to link the phone number to my account, I keep getting the following error, "That mobile number is not eligible for linking."

I was curious if anyone else has run into this and if so what the solution to it was.

I have tried reaching support on this through the contact us page, but it either will put me through an automated system and not get me to a human operator, or it will give me an error when attempting to use the chat with us or have us call you method.

I have attempted to perform this multiple times through both the app and on my desktop, including using private browser sessions, and I receive the same error.

Same here. I spent at least 5 hours on the phone with customer support after carrying my number to make it work, it didn't. Verizon Store was able to fix it after customer service pretended to not hear me on the phone and hang up!! Then SMS service stopped working. After another 2 hours they fixed it. Now I am unable to link my number to setup autopay etc. This is a lovely experience!

Verizon Support reached and after many discussions they were able to send me a link to register my number as a Verizon number. Then I was able to link it to my account. I hope this helps someone else. Huge thanks to Adrian!

Hi! I’m also having this issue. What link did you get or how does one ensure it’s registered as Verizon? My number has always been Verizon, so it’s weird that transferring it would make it not?

Hello, i’m having the same problem. It will not let me register my phone number to my account. It says “that mobile number is not eligible for linking” if i could get some help that would be nice!!

Did anyone figure out how to fix this? I have been having this issue for months and called and chatted with support and no one seems to want to help. They say they will call back etc and no one ever does. This is for a business too so it is very frustrating. I am about ready to throw in the towel and switch providers. All I want to do is log in so I can see what our bill is and how much the autop[ay is.

I also have this issue. Recently transferred to my own plan from another Verizon plan. Log into app and/or online, try to enter my number to link services and it shows it is unavailable for linking. I have tried clearing cache/cookies and deleting/redownloading app - but have been unsuccessful with linking. Has anyone found a solution for this yet?

I am having an issue linking my services so that i can upgrade my phone. Everytime i put in my current phone number, it just says "provided input is not valid and cannot be linked". What can i do to fix this because this is the only phone number i have ever used with this provider?

So, essentially, Verizon will make you start over with a different email address, and the same will happen with anyone else on your account. It is the most idiotic system I've ever experienced, and they chalk it up to a security measure because they don't have a good explanation. The bottom line is that they are incapable of resolving the issue with an existing email address. I have spent hours on this, so I hope I can save you some time! I've been a customer with them, using the same email address for over 15 years!

I’m having the exact same issue. I spent 2 hours on the phone with customer service and 4 hours inside of Verizon today and finally left in frustration. I was able to transfer my phone from my parents account into mine but am unable to link my phone number. I’m seeing the same error message someone had screenshotted. Someone please help because the Verizon workers said I can’t get a new phone until my number is linked and they were unable to help me today.

I need to get into my online account to set up bill pay ASAP! It sounds like if I call customer service, it will just be a waste of several hours, with basic script steps and no actual help or resolution (and, hanging up on you, or otherwise ending the interaction to avoid dealing with the issue...same experience I have had more than once in the past).

Just yesterday, after an hour and a half of going back and forth trying to fix this, I was told via chat that a supervisor would be joining to assist, and that never happened. When I checked back an hour later, the conversation started over with the automated assistant. What a waste of time.

Please help!

kelljw6, sorry you've been having trouble there. It sounds like you're having issues registering for My Verizon? Just to check, have you tried this process for registering your number and creating your sign-in: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-17492/

For the issue with making a payment, luckily there's more options than just My Verizon.

If you look under the ‘How can I pay my Verizon mobile bill?’ question, all our payment options are offered there. If you’re unable to access My Verizon, you can use our payment website which doesn’t need sign-in: https://www.verizon.com/digital/nsa/nos/ui/payment/otp/login#/

You can enter your mobile number or account number on that page. Then use the billing zip code from the account, and complete the reCAPTCHA ‘I’m not a robot.’ Once you’ve entered the info and hit continue, you can then proceed to payment. I'f highly recommend this option as a short term solution, if you're unable to get into My VZ at the moment.

Please check out that registration process I shared, and let me know if you're still having trouble registering or signing in. Then we can go from there

I am having this same issue and getting the same error when trying to link my phone number to MyVerizon account (“That phone number is not eligible for linking.”) after transferring my number from a family account to my own account. I have the same problem currently. I moved from the plan with my family to my own plan, and transferred my number and phone. The new plan is active because the personal hotspot is working (didn't have that on my family's plan). But I can't login to see my information, and I've been struggling to get a human on the phone to help with this. I received my first bill and it's been almost a full month since my new plan has been active. Any ideas?

I am having this same issue. I was able to transfer my husband’s phone number over from his current account to my account, but now his phone number won’t link with my Verizon account. It says I’m locked out now for 24 hours due to too many tries. I’ve tried on the mobile browser, app, and on my laptop. I also do not have access to my account number due to it not showing up when I log in to my Verizon. I’ve tried using the chat feature for help, but it just keeps taking me to the same login screen. Has anyone gotten this issue resolved?

I was able to successfully transfer the number, but I can’t get it to link with my account. Thankfully he still has service, but when I login to my Verizon account I’m prompted to “link my service.” It asks me to either type in the phone number I want to link or the account number. When I type in the phone number, it says it’s not eligible for linking. I don’t know my account number because I can’t get the number linked with my Verizon, so that’s the only screen that will pop up when I log in.

I’m having the exact same issue. No customer support has been able to help. The weird part is I’m getting billing information sent to the same email I have registered to my Verizon account, but it still won’t let me link it.

As long as your service isn't suspended on your current account or you don't have the Verizon Family (parental control) app engaged on your old account, please try signing in with your email and then try to complete the linking. I can also review your account as well. -Ross
