CR1000a with coax

I upgraded my old actiontec router to a CR1000A. The internet out of ONT is coax and I connect the coax to the new router just like I did with my Actiontec. After doing so I can see the wireless signal but it says no internet connection. Can the new router support coax internet connection or is it a different problem? I’ve tried multiple connection points and different coax cables. Thanks!

Hmmm I’m not sure but I’m thinking yes. I have gigabit device and I also have Fios tv. The way mine is setup (and this is the second version of setup they did to make my V2 streamtv box work properly. )
the Ethernet comes out of the ONT so does coax. The Ethernet goes to the WAN on the router. The coax goes to the wall outlet. Out of the coax wall outlet is a coax cable that goes into a 3 way coax splitter. One of the three coax cables runs to to router. The second goes to the VMS4100ATV box. The third coax goes to a special MoCa adapter especially for the Verizon V2 streamtv box. If you don’t have the stream box and the vms4100atv box like I do And have just a 4100 setup box it may differ. You probably won’t need a MoCa adapter in that case. Atleast definitely not the special one made just for this streamtv box. You probably would only need a two way splitter in that case instead of the three way. If you have a Verizon extender as well that is going to add another two way splitter into the equation.

in my case the streamtv box did not work properly with just a two way splitter and no MoCA adapter so they removed the two way splitter and replaced it w a 3 way splitter and installed the MoCA adapter.

You still need to have an Ethernet cable going from the ONT to the WAN port of the CR1000A and the coax from the ONT to the CR1000A as far as I know. You have the Ethernet cable attached too right?

Thanks. My internet speed is 100MB so I never got ethernet out of the ONT, it only comes out on coax. This has been fine for my older router.

Went a few rounds on the chat and finally after they insisted a couple times that coax only should work, came to the conclusion I need a tech to run ethernet out of the ONT. sound correct?

Also I have Verizon tv so do I need a coax and an Ethernet connection into the router to create MOCA for the stb?

Tech came and confirmed everything. New router needs both ethernet, for the internet, and coax if you have a set top box. Also just to add in case anyone else runs into this, the Fios tv one stb is not compatible with the Actiontec Verizon router, this is what kicked off the whole process for me.

Tech brought in Ethernet from outside ont and connected to the router along with coax. Internet works, stb works…not too painful overall.
