Phone not ringing when calls are coming in

Hi there, We've been having a problem for several weeks now with one of our two FIOS landlines. If someone calls the house the phone shows the call on caller ID, if you answer the phone the call is there, but the phone is not ringing to announce the call. And yes, the ringer is on and turned up LoL.

I've tried different jacks and different phones and all produce the same result. Went to the ONT and unplugged the wiring going into the house and plugged the phone directly into the ONT and had the same result which leads me to believe this has to be a problem outside of the house.

The second landline in the house works as it is supposed to.

I've gone over the settings in my online account and tried turning different things off and on and still the same result.

If anyone here could point me in the direction of other things to try or test I'd be grateful. The phone lines are in my elderly parents house and they are driving me to drink trying to get this solved! This seems like it should be a really easy fix buy I'm perplexed and would love someone else's input.

I suspect that Do Not Disturb may be active on that telephone line.

The process to activate and deactivate the feature requires logging into the account online.

I am under a bit of a time constraint at the moment. Try downloading the Verizon Fios Digital Voice user guide.

DND is discussed on pages 15 & 16 in the version that I have.

Not the case unfortunately. See screenshots below. Incoming call block settings included just to show it is on for anonymous calls only. I've tried turning it off, it didn't change anything. Thanks

There is the possibility that the ring generator for the telephone line is bad. That would require a replacement of the ONT to resolve.

Just out of curiosity, could the two telephone cables plugged into the bottom of the ONT be switched just to make sure that the problem points to the telephone jack/line?

And...I just remembered...has the ONT been powercycled to see if that makes a difference?

I did not switch the phone lines between the L1 and L2 ports simply because I physically took a phone to the ONT and plugged the phone directly into it and L1 does not ring when called, L2 rings as it should when called.

As for power cycling the ONT, they lost power for 30 or so hours last week after the big storm rolled through the Boston area. I assumed it would have cycled then, but now that I'm thinking about it isn't there a small battery in the power supply to the ONT? I've no idea how long that may maintain power but perhaps it did not cycle, I will try that in the morning when I get there after work.
