Trying to get ethernet to second floor via the coax cable

Hi I have a G3100 router on the ground floor with wired ethernet cables run to the basement.

I'd like to be able to get ethernet up to a second floor bedroom (new PC) without running more ethernet cables as there is no easy path to run as they are on opposite sides of the house.

Can I use another Fios router plugged into the existing coax cable that is currently in the second floor bedroom and run ethernet from that new router to the new PC?

Yes, it's a WiFi extender. Most people find improved WiFi coverage helpful. It's also dead simple to install - just plug it in and it seamlessly integrates with the G3100.

If you want Ethernet only, then all you need is a MoCA 2.5 adapter. You could use another Verizon router for that, but you'd have to configure it into bridge mode. If you already have an old Verizon router, you can find instructions on how to bridge it here and on other online resources. If you don't already have an old router, I recommend buying a MoCA adapter instead. There are lots to choose from the usual online sources for tech gear. Other users here may recommend specific models that have been used with the G3100, I don't have any 1st hand experience.

Assuming your G3100 is connected to coax, one of these should do the trick:

Depending on your plan, Verizon might provide one at no charge. You'd need to have a plan that includes "whole home internet." If you're not sure, call or chat with them.

Verizon seems to market that mainly as a wifi extender. I see that it has LAN Ports as well, but is there any device you know of that would connect to the coax and just add a LAN port for ethernet without the wifi?

Would an old G1100 router work for this purpose?
