Use Computer Monitor as TV for Fios

Hi,

I have a very high quality Apple computer monitor on which I would like to watch Fios TV (I am moving into a new apartment after separation and do not have a lot of my equipment from my house - the wife has it and won't let me have come and collect it).

The problem is that when I go to setup Fios TV, the on-screen setup process asks me to select the TV manufacturer, but there is no selection for Apple. Accordingly, I cannot get past that point in the setup and am now at a loss as to what to do.  I would like to skip that part. Please  note that the monitor has mini DVI in, but I have a converter that converts the mini DVI to HDMI, so I know the video and sound works.

However, sound is also an issue since there is not an audio out port on the Fios box; the sounds work on  the monitor but I would like to use my surround sound system for it. Any ideas on how I could do that - I could buy an HDMI splitter box that would strip the audio out. I am not sure such a box exists but bet one does. Any other ideas?

You could tell the setup any 4K monitor and still get an output. Run HDMI from the Fios box to the surround system then go from the surround system to the Apple monitor with another HDMI cable. You won't need an audio extractor that way. If you can't do that, check Amazon for the HDMI audio stripper. There are several. You may hit an issue with HDCP copy protection though. The Fios box wants to see 1.4 or higher and will not send video to anything less.
