Victra calling me unsolicited to sell me an additional line

I just received an unsolicited call from what appears to be a Verizon 'Authorized' reseller, offering to get me an additional line on my current Verizon service for $10 per month. I just let it go to voice mail as I did not recognize the number. I have no idea who these people are and I have never contacted them or done business with them previously.

I want to know if Verizon has authorized these people to access the Verizon customer database and just start doing spam phone calls to sell service. If so, we are going to have some serious problems Verizon.

If this was not authorized by Verizon, then to whom do I report this and how do I get it to STOP??

They are not spoofing any number. The number that was left for me to call back IS for the LOCAL STORE! This is how Victra does business. I left a review on Google Maps for the local store asking why when I call the local store I can’t speak to them, and the store manager responded by telling me to email Victra support. They are deliberately obfuscating any scrutiny or questions.

These are all really bad flags and something I assert that Verizon needs to deal with for the sake of their current and potential future customers. Cold calling existing Verizon customers and pretending to be Verizon is a very disrespectful and dishonest tactic.. If Verizon doesn’t see that then they deserve what they will reap from this.

Yes, I understand that I can block the 800 # that they called on initially, and have done so. The bigger concern is how they accessed the fact that I am a Verizon customer when they are just a reseller.

I am going to consider this a dead message thread. I think my original intent was to put out the word that this is happening with regard to Victra, and see if others are getting the same. I see it was probably a waste of effort.

I wish that people would actually try to understand what they are reading these days.

I did not say that Verizon itself was contacting me. I stated that a company called Victra, who happens to be an 'Authorized Reseller' of Verizon, contacted me and SAID they are Verizon. I did not find out that it was Victra until I looked them up on Google Maps. They were clearly being dishonest and misrepresenting themselves.

I have already called and spoken to the fraud department of Verizon and they are themselves concerned about this and found it strange. If you are telling me that there is some permission setting for having one of your 'Authorized Resellers' to cold-call your customers, and that I can just turn it off, then that is not what your customer service and fraud departments seem to think.

When I called the local phone number that was left for me on the voice mail, it was indeed the number listed on Google Maps for the physical store near me. When I called, it connected me to what sounds like an overseas call center. The person that answered said they are unable to connect me to the local store.

This all sounds rather fishy, and confirms to me that the many complaints and bad experiences your community have reported regarding their dealings with Victra are very accurate. After several bad experiences with a couple of your 'Authorized Resellers' years ago, I have avoided going anywhere but a corporate store to do business.

I doubt that I will hear back that anything is being done by Verizon to deal with this. When you allow your 'Authorized Resellers' to conduct themselves this way, you are in effect partnering with them in their attempts to fleece and harass your customers. I am now looking into taking my 15+ years of business with Verizon to a different company.

Hi, I don't know why the Victra store was cold-calling you, but will agree with you that doesn't seem entirely legitimate. Crooks regularly spoof numbers to hide their tracks, and the fact that you got an overseas call center or maybe just a person with a foreign accent when you tried to call the number back makes me wonder if a sc*mmer got hold of the number and is using it for shady purposes. I'd just block the number on your phone.
