Verizon voicemail on my S23 pops up with, "Please wait while voicemail is being downloaded."

Verizon Voicemail on my Samsung S23 repeatedly pops up the, "Please wait while voicemail is being downloaded," message on my screen when I tap a new voice message to hear it. It does not let me choose or open the playback window for the new message. It provides the same pop-up for 3 seconds .

I have already restarted my phone. The issue is persisting.

Surely, several hours is long enough for voicemail to download.

Further, I was not alerted to a new voice message. Yet, it is right there on the list of voicemail in the app.

Hello, Big_Baby. Help is here as we can check on this issue with the voicemail. We don't want you missing any important message on your phone. Just to confirm, are there any available software updates on the device? Are you able to access your voicemails if you dial *86 from your device?
