Iphone 13 caller can't hear me unless I turn on speaker

On my iphone 13, the person on the other end can't hear me unless I turn on the speaker. The phone has the latest update and is NOT connected to earbuds/earphones . Also Do Not Disturb is NOT on. Went into settings (sounds and haptics) to test. Tested fine but no fix. What's the next step.?!
