My Fios is usually rock solid, but recently I had two drops, 5 days apart, at essentially the same exact time (1am Eastern). Not a huge issue, but trying to prevent this from recurring... In both cases, there was active use of the Internet -- streaming and browsing on multiple clients.
In the router logs.. in both cases, the drop starts with: eth1: carrier lost followed by a variety of messages; deleting routes, dhcpcd restarting, etc.
In both cases, connectivity restored itself a few minutes later.
I do make it a point to reboot my router about once per month. However, the ONT likely has not been power cycled in almost 1 year. After the second drop, I did power cycle the ONT.
When I power cycled the ONT.. the logs look identical to the drops -- so the current theory is that the ONT (or a service issue in my area) is at fault. Is there any ONT-specific troubleshooting I can do?
Any other suggestions?
