I have had Verizon Wireless home phone for 3 years without any problems until very recently. On several occasions I was unable to hear the incoming caller and they were not able to hear me. The phone rings like normal, they hear a ringing signal on their end but when I pick up, there is no one on the line. They are talking but I can't hear them and they can't hear me. This never happens on outgoing calls.
However, the extremely odd thing is that this only happens with calls from certain carriers. The problem only happens with incoming T-Mobile and AT&T Wireless calls. This issue does not happen with other carriers. While the issue is going on, I am able to receive calls from Verizon Wireless, Google Voice and AT&T landlines with no problem at all. If I reset the device the problem is corrected.
But it must not be the device because clearly people from specific carriers get through while other ones do not. And it must not be the other carrier with since the problem affects several carriers. So what can it be? Could it be some kind of weird Verizon interconnection to other carriers? But then, why does the problem correct itself when I turn the device on and off? Do I need a new SIM card?
