Greece with iPhone 13 mini data roaming

Question

I got to Athens, Greece a couple hours ago and haven’t been able to get data working on my iPhone 13 mini. I have roaming on, I restarted the device, then reset network settings and still nothing. It shows me as having at least 2 LTE bars on the NOVA network. I also checked my prepaid plan details and I have TravelPass ON, and I’m also well within Verizon’s coverage area.

Do you have funds loaded in your account?  For prepaid customers, if you don't have available funds already present, Travel Pass will not activate (the "on" thing just means you're eligible to use it, but you have to have the funds in your account first).  Sure hope you're not racking up international roaming charges to your phone bill...

You're very welcome, glad to have been of help!  I'd actually asked the question about whether or not you need a balance in your account a few weeks ago and CS told me yes, for prepaid customers we do as everything for us is "prepaid".  Which makes me wonder though: if one is prepaid, and your phone is roaming due to being outside the US AND you don't have an available balance to use Travel Pass or disabled the perk in your account, will your phone just not work at all?  Or would it be racking up "unbilled" charges for international roaming?  Because I'm pretty sure I've seen something on the Verizon website about there now being a $500 cap on "unbilled" charges for roaming and then your service just quits, presumably to prevent someone from running up an enormous bill without knowing and then going into massive bill shock later when all the charges hit your account sooner or later.  Or maybe it's that you get notified somehow that you have $500 in extra charges coming up and have to authorize more usage, if you don't mind paying...
