Fios Extender Too close but no room for distance

I have my G3100 router in the basement in the center against the back wall and the E3200 Fios extender in the far basement front corner to boost the outside front porch WIFI but I keep getting the fast yellow flashing LED. I can't move them farther apart as the G3100 is wired to the ONT mounted on the back wall. Will this be fixed if I hardwire the two with Ethernet?

Wireless backhaul is only HINTED at in the User Manual notarized to the FCC. Wired backhaul is described in detail.

Wireless backhaul adds 3-6 ms of latency, which is bad for latency-sensitive applications such as video or audio. Also gaming. Wireless backhaul has significantly lower bandwidth due to signal strength and interference.

Wireless backhaul is strongly discouraged.

You could wire the E3200 to G3100 through Ethernet or Coax. Coax gives a slightly more bandwidth but at the suffer of greater latency.

Why is wireless backhaul discouraged? Wireless is the way the setup says to connect both units. The setup never even mentions wired connection between the two. Pls advise???
