Recovering my old Verizon phone number that isn't in use?

Hello -

I had service with Verizon for many years on my number, I ported it out to Tmobile after a number of customer service issues and later I had to leave the country for 2 years so it was disconnected. I call the number and it has the Verizon not in service message so it isn't being used by anyone. Can I reactive that with Verizon or is it possible to provide a port PIN to use for it?

If the number isn't in use by someone else and it's been over 50 days, then it is up for grabs. Seems like all you'd need to do is contact Verizon and request the number. If you've moved to a different area code, I don't think they can give you the old area code back, but you could get the seven digit phone number if available.

If you are in the same area code of the old number and it's not in use, then I would think you simply need to request the old number be reactivated on Verizon. If you want to use a different carrier, I'm not sure what the process is; maybe they can just request the number from Verizon?

You have a great question t2tommy22. Once a number has been inactive for 50 days, it then recycles. If available when setting up service, we can check to see if that old number is available to use. Are you ready to add new service with Verizon?

I need my previous phone number but the agent is telling me there is no way to get it back but I am sure they can at least check to see if it is available for use.
