Verizon Phones=worst selection of new phones

I have a family plan and and my contract is up in August and Im seriously considering switching. Verizon of the four major carriers have the worst phone selection by far. They have one dual core phone X2 which is basically the X with a dual core they didnt even upgrade the memory. Im so disappointed in Verizon.

I'm glad to see such an active discussion board.

I'm sure our Marketing and Products teams wish it were as easy as requesting any phone from a manufacture. Our customers too, clearly! Many things go into negotiating a device release with any carrier. If anything our size and network reliability lends itself to many phones options! After all, a manufacture is going to want their phone on a large and healthy network. Verizon Wireless takes great pride in it's evaluation process in selecting devices to bring to our customers.

Of course, we always appreciate and encourage feedback from our customers. I know I'm looking forward in seeing all the devices we release as 4G/LTE becomes the world standard!

I switched from tmobile to verizon and In love the selection, service and performance. The thunderbolt is amazing. Probably the best out of all the phones i have used. Give it a shot and wait until all the updates come out. Dual core is just processing speed. My one core phone beat alot dual core.

Your right the phones are not that good. Im a HTC fan and the T-mobile Sensation is the top right now with HTC when i contacted Verizon about this they told me that i would have to wait until they got more phones out to see what might be coming next. I also contacted HTC and they said that the Service provider has to request the phones from them and set up there features i wish Verizon came up with a phone just as nice as the sensation. My upgrade is ready but no phone Verizon has sutes me. Im close to switching to T-mobile just to get the phone but i like the sevice i get with Verizon.

I can't agree that VZW need only request a device to make available to customers. There are so many other factors that go into such decisions. The most important of those decisions is customer interest. Will a significant number of our customers want a specific model of phone? Can we agree with the manufacturer on the unit price? How many units will the manufacturer want to sell, and what can we agree will be the price break?

It's about marketing, sure. But mostly, the decision to be a retailer for a specific model is about whether that model is the right fit for the VZW image. Sometimes, we don't have a match. We're always working to find the right balance. We use forums like this and your valuable feedback as part of that process. So thank you for taking the time to tell us how you feel!

Im sorry thank you for your response but this a bad answer. We all know it isnt price considering all phones are prices similar and the other carries seem to have no problem getting them. I personally think Verizon is arrogant due to there network being the best. If you truely cared about the customers you would listen to them. Many want to have phone without your bloatware and preinstalled crap on it. That why we have yet to see either the Nexus phone do to Verizon wanting to force us load there stuff on the phones. You say we are valued yet your actions dont seem to follow your words. I have a 6 line family account with one more line under contract and when it is up I doubt I will stay with Verizon. If your network wasnt very good which gives you alot of clout maybe you would hear your customers and listen to them.

bwk5150 hit the nail on the head. Verizon knows there is no better network out there so they use network reliability to basically trap their customers. I am on a corporate account worth thousands of dollars and you should hear the way our rep spoke to me the other day. She was rude and dismissive because she knew my company wasn't going to switch carriers. I voiced a number of legitimate concerns to her and she basically said "So what...deal with it because you won't leave". It's extremely frustrating!

I just hope the AT&T/T-Mobile merger happens. I bet we'll see quite a few changes then.

I really hope Adam and Dion are not paid by VZW to post on these boards. Both of their answers were nothing more than canned "We love our customers!" responses.

My Droid X is still chugging along just fine (actually, it is the best phone I have ever owned), however, I live on my phone. I want the LTE speed, but why should I settle for the Thunderbolt (an upgraded HTC EVO 4G) running last years hardware? The Droid Charge, aside from its screen, is a joke. The Revolution...well Amazon just dropped its pricing as has Wirefly. Gee, I wonder why...maybe because it is old hardware, loaded with bloatware, and running BING? (0 for 3 on that one VZW)

The HTC EVO 3D is ready to drop on June 24th (three days away) and VZW answer to it (the Bionic)
is nowhere to be seen.

My contract ran out this month and I have no reason to sit around and wait on Verizon to finally release this phone. They have given their customers NO reason to wait around either. They have not announced WHAT the changes are (am I sitting around for a 512MB phone with dual GHz or is it upped to 1GB and 1.2+Ghz?) nor have they given a time frame except "summer". Why should I wait on the Bionic when I can get the Atrix, EVO 3D, Photon, etc this month? Their silence is deafening.

This is not a phone that had a "small" delay like the charge, it is one that has been delayed month after month. What are they waiting on? Where is any hope it will be released? Is Verizon trying to figure out how to stuff more bloatware onto
the phone?

Verizon Customer service has never been "great" but to think your customers are going to sit around and pray for the Verizon Gods to deliver us a phone equal to one other carriers had 6 months ago is beyond ludicrous. Neither VZW nor Motorola seem to have a clue on how to communicate with customers.

.Also, ever since VZW received the iPhone 4, they seem to have stopped caring about the Android
products altogether. Perhaps they forgot that the Droid 1 was a HUGE success?

Or perhaps they can only see themselves trying to outsell ATT in iPhones. Either way this leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and has actually started me shopping around for a new carrier who can provide and support the
hardware/software I want.

My contract ends in a week or two and if they don't release the Bionic or the Samsung Galaxy S2 in the next few weeks, I'm going to start looking at my other options.

When I went into a store to get my Samsung gem downloaded with my things off my blackberry. I asked the store manager if Verizon had any idea of going to the upgrading to a new phone earlier then every 2 years. His answer was no because this way they can keep their customers for 2 years and they can't switch to a different carrier. I just want to have a better phone selection earlier because it seems that most phones only last one good full year before you start having problems with them. I am having problems with the new phone I just got already...So back to the store I go...

okamsrazor22 I couldnt have said it any better. Those two sound like automated responses with no help or insight to our concerns just bull. If all the other carries are getting these phones then who does it fall on. LET SEE UMMMM HMMM VERIZON. Either they dont want to except your pricing or you crappy bloatware that makes Android run much slower. It is amazing how much faster the Nexus phones run compared to phones with you software overlay. You care so little about your customers you give us no choice. Im glas to see Im not the only one. Sadly it seems the only way to get you to listen is hurt your bottom line. I hope enough people do it to get your attention I doubt it will change until then at all.

I was in bestbuy today and the 2 guys in the mobile section said they said if you want new phone and you have good service for all the carries and I quote "DO NOT go with verizon they dont even listen to us the retailers when we give feed back"
