No international Data with the unlimited ultimate plan in aruba

I have had the unlimited ultimate plan for 3 months and went through the steps to let them know I was going to aruba, but have had no data since i arrived three days ago.

I have spent roughly eight hours (of my vacation) on the phone with verizon troubleshooting each time they told me they would call me back or email me. I haven't gotten a call or an email yet.

If there isn't free wifi around, I can't call a cab, ride-share, use navigation, search places to go. 50% of my calls don't work and many text don't send. I have been here 3 days and all 3 days have been compromised by lack of service promised by Verizon.

According to the international coverage map, Aruba is mostly 4G LTE, but there's part of the island which looks like it's 2G only. Maybe you're in that part? Or the network infrastructure has issues there; you are using a local carrier's network and they have agreed to work with Verizon to provide service to Verizon's customers. But Verizon doesn't have any control over how well the wireless infrastructure works in other countries. I've got a friend who lives near Venezuela, and he constantly reports having his internet service go out, and they're barely limping along on 3G on a good day...

I have the same problem. From day one when I landed. I was on the phone two days with verizon. They tried even setting on the phone. They transfer me over to the global service tech support. At that I was on the phone for an hour an half. They even try the data boost. Which cost me $35. That didn't work. There is only a 3G service in Aruba for Verizon. They told me that there's a 4G service ( WRONG ). My wife has T-Mobile. She had 4G service with good data service. Lucky we had her service. We use the Google map to get around. I'm very disappointed in Verizon. I have been with them for 20 years. This has been the first time that Verizon has let me down . VERY DISAPPOINTED

Here and having the same issue - while 3 of the other phones on my plan are working. Many hours of my vacation time spent on phone with Verizon with NO resolution. Completely unacceptable. I have had Verizon a long time and travel frequently internationally and have never had an issue. I will be switching carriers since I travel for work internationally and they cannot seem to fix the issue.

If you travel a lot for work, and 3 other phones in your plan are working in the same location internationally, my guess is you exhausted your high-speed international data allowance on your line and are now being throttled at 3G speeds, which are unusable for modern apps. Can't remember what it is, but even the monthly international service plan has a relatively small amount of high-speed data, which isn't all that hard to use up if you're on your phone often.

I'm in Aruba now and I also don't have any LTE 3G/4G/5G service at all... Just R sometimes. I was here in March 2024 and it worked perfectly, but somehow now I have absolutely nothing and my phone doesn't work unless I'm on wifi. It's super inconvenient and when I called Verizon a few days ago, they said it was an Aruba tower issue. I'm now in a different part of Aruba and it's still not working. SEND HELP! I can't call cabs or make plans without having to tether myself somewhere that has wifi. Super inconvenient!

I am here in Aruba as well. I came in September and December as well and never had a an issue with the ultimate unlimited. I have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve the issues as well, spent hours troubleshooting and resetting network settings.

Same story here. Just switched to Verizon last week from t-mobile. They assured that unlimited ultimate plan has good service in Aruba. Not even close. Funny enough , during original network discovery phase it comes up as LTE with a few bars, but 10-15 seconds later it swithes to 3G (with no practical use for data), or more often to 2G. It was a total bate to switch technique.

I have been to England, South Africa and Tenerife and my data does not work in any of them. Wasted so much time on chat/video chat with Verizon, bounced from person to person and go no resolution. It still doesn’t work. I have the unlimited Ultimate plan so there is no excuse. When I called the international support line it just said ‘the center is closed’ and got hung up on.
I am paying for a service I am not receiving and have tried every step possible. Why does Verizon offer a service they can’t provide and seems as though so many people have to waste time on their holiday trying to fix something that the Verizon team obviously don’t know how to fix.

My sister doesn’t have the Unlimited Ultimate plan AND IS ON VERIZON. She is next to me most of the day here in Aruba
I have NO cellular internet service She can instantly get on google search restaurants, use google maps ETC

i have never had a problem connecting in Aruba and now with the ultimate plan, the service is Garbage!!!

we are in the same location with the same phone. Her phone works my phone doesn’t. This is nonsense.

how do we fix this issue?????

Why doesn’t Verizon publish a fix for this problem. I have the international plan and no cell service works. My wife’s iPhone works and my iPhone doesn’t. Not acceptable service Verizon!

Same issue. Been a Verizon customer for nearly 30 years. Been to Aruba many times with the travel pass and never had an issue. Switched to the ultimate unlimited plan when I bought the new Galaxy S25 ultra (which I was basically forced to do in order to get trade in credit, which it appears i haven't been getting). Not a great way to start vacation.

We have two separate Verizon phones with international plans and cannot connect to anything. One of us spent several hours over a few days on the phone with Verizon to resolve. What’s the magic solution???? AT&T is working just fine. Help!

5/29/2025, in Aruba at Eagle Beach. Zero connectivity on unlimited ultimate. Had called and verified phone settings prior to departure. I expected seamless usage while here. I was sadly mistaken.

I am also having the same issue! Currently here in Aruba and haven’t gotten more than 30 seconds of service. If I’m paying over $100 a month, why is my plan not working? I came here two years ago with AT&T and I had ZERO issues!!!

Here now. Same issue on all 5 of our Verizon phones. Spent entire day yesterday and last night on the phone with 6 different reps and techs. No one a seem to fix the issue. Then they lie and say there’s an outage. It’s clearly an issue. Maybe has to do with new iPhones and Samsung phones post 2023 models but still. Being charged for something I’m not getting. Then being lied to. After being a customer for 30 years. SINCE BELL ATLANTIC MOBILE. I WILL BE SWITCHING TO T-MOBILE

I’ve been on Verizon’s Unlimited Ultimate for three months and did everything to inform them of my trip to Aruba. However, since arriving three days ago, I have no data at all. I have spent over eight hours on the phone with Verizon during my vacation, with each person saying they would follow up with a call or email and never did. Without data, I am not able to get cabs, directions, and travel information other than only finding Wi-Fi. Half the calls fail and so many texts don’t send. The fact that they are not providing the promised service has ruined my trip from day one.

I’ll be heading to Aruba in a few months and am starting to worry about Verizon service issues. Can’t the reps spill the beans on what’s going on and how to rectify? What’s with all the pm’s? Let us know!

Currently in Aruba and the issue still exists. I am on the Unlimited Ultimate plan (the most expensive plan, mind you) and I cannot get my phone to connect to data with either local carrier. I had to get an eSIM and spend money on something that’s included in my Verizon plan!

It seems that as long as you are not on the Unlimited Ultimate plan and are on a plan that requires you to pay for travel day pass, you should be okay

Headed to Aruba tomorrow. Just switched this month to the Ultimate Unlimited and upgraded to a Samsung S25 Ultra. I am now very worried about having service. Unlimited Ultimate provides Unlimited talk, text and data when traveling in 210+ countries and destinations including Aruba. You get 15 GB of high-speed data per month, then unlimited 1.5 mbps speeds. When you travel, you don't need to add or change anything. This will not cover you while you are flying or on open water. To save data, turn phone off or on airplane mode. You can make calls back to the US and within Aruba while there. Calls to another country while in Aruba are not covered.

For calling to the USA, dial +1 and the 10 digit number you are calling. For calls within Aruba, dial +297 and the local number you are calling .-Ross

now Aruba.. no data. I can make calls and receive texts. free wifi works. on unlimited ultimate plan.

verizon: please just dont respond with "we will reach out to you" - we all need a solution. even if "hey we are having issues in Aruba..." whatever

Ugh I am in Aruba and having the same issue. I can’t call, text, or use my phone as a hotspot which I need for work! I did get a text saying I had unlimited calls and texts and 15 GB of data but that’s a lie. I have to be connected to WiFi for anything to work on my phone. This is beyond frustrating and to see it looks like this has been going on for months. Please help!!!

I completely understand how it feels to have data not working while travelling. While your plan does include international usage, please note that we cannot guarantee the quality of service when you are connected to towers that are not owned or operated by Verizon, such as those in Aruba.

To help troubleshoot, can you please confirm data roaming is enabled in your phone's settings? It may also help to manually select a different local network by going to your phones network settings and choosing another carrier.

Same issue here for my wife & me. Arrived yesterday & no data once we are off WiFi. Worked perfect in Italy last month but not here. I haven't made any changes to my settings. Very disappointed! Appreciate any thoughts on a resolution.

We are back from Aruba as of last night. Data didn't seem to work at all when off of WiFi. Voice calls were sporadic at best. This was not only my wife's & my experience, but my daughters' family who upgraded to unlimited ultimate & our friends. Unlike Italy & Greece where everything just worked when we arrived, this was not true for Aruba. Other family members who have T-Mobile or AT&T had better experiences.

in full honesty & from our experience, unless this is resolved, Verizon should not advertise that their service works in Aruba. Disappointing to pay for this feature from such a prominent carrier & not receive it.

I can confirm the ultimate plan does not work here. Currently in Aruba with no data service whatsoever. Another phone on my account is working fine with travel pass. Spoke to a rep saying nothing he can do. Told me switch my plan and pay for a travel pass which will cost more than the ultimate plan. What garbage customer service this is

Eight months after the original post, there are still problems with data connection in Aruba and no acknowledgment from Verizon. My daughter has been there for a week, initially using the Unlimited Ultimate Plan with no data connection. After reading a few posts about success with TravelPass, I downgraded her plan and paid for the TravelPass for one day, and she still could not access data. I agree with everyone else's frustration with Verizon's lack of transparency about this issue in Aruba. Given the amount we pay for Verizon service when there are cheaper, and apparently, more reliable alternatives, it shouldn't be asking too much for Verizon to be honest and act with integrity about their service in Aruba. This is definitely something that will affect our future cellular considerations. Do better Verizon!

I’m in Aruba right now. Having the same issue that everyone else has reported on this thread. I’ve tried all of the so called fixes that have been provided. How about instead of Verizon posting “I’ll send you a private message” to others, they just post the fix! I never had these issues with AT&T. Seems like it’s time for me to switch my three lines to someone else!

I have the Unlimited Ultimate plan which includes international. We were in UK and France for 12 days. My phone did not work for 90% of the time. My wife, daughter and son all had lower plan and paid for Travel Pass. They had great coverage right next to me and mine was terrible. This is a major problem and can be very dangerous traveling internationally. I requested a credit and Verizon gave me a very pitiful credit. DO NOT PAY EXTRA FOR THIS PLAN. Verizon is obviously limiting the ability of the phone to pick up the service. I had to use my wife's phone's hot spot just to do anything. Again, if this was someone traveling alone this could be extremely dangerous since there was no way to get a signal 90% of the time. I tried to call support but guess what, my phone did not work and when I did get finally get through to support-they sent me a text to click for support and hung up. I have had Verizon for 19 years-YOU MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

May be time to look at another provider. I am getting more upset as I think about it more.

Service abroad depends on roaming agreements and sometimes your device doesn't automatically latch onto the strongest available partner network. In those cases, going into your phone's setting and manually selecting another local roaming carrier can help get you connected.
