Not receiving all texts in Group Messaging

My Samsung S23 has been having problems receiving group texts. At first, I thought it was an iPhone/Android issue, but I started noticing that I was also having problems receiving texts from other Android users. It's very random. I'll get a text in a group, then a couple of the group members show up individually as having a message waiting to download, but it never comes. In looking here and online, this seems to be an ongoing problem specific to Verizon Android users that has been going on for years. It seems to have gotten worse when RCS chats with Google Messaging became the method. No one at Verizon seems to know how to resolve the issue. I've tried everything. I went to a corporate Verizon store to get help and they all said it's a big problem and they don't know when it will be solved. In a group where others don't have Verizon/Android, they are moving on with life and you'll be left out of the conversation. I missed a very important medical issue of a friend within my group because my cell provider (Verizon) couldn't or wouldn't provide the basic messaging service I pay for every month. Should I switch carriers? I don't think switching to iPhone will help because there will always be a non-compatible phone within any given group. Please advise.

Just wanted to say Thank You to vzw_customer_support for solving my group text problem. It's been almost 2 weeks now and I haven't seen any issues and have been able to participate in group messages, so I think it's fixed. Thanks!

Do you have your mobile data enabled, and is the Messages app allowed to use it? RCS requires a data connection, unlike SMS. Android 12 is the minimum, although you may want to double check that your phone has a 5G SIM Card inside of it if it is using a physical SIM. Also make sure RCS didn't get blocked on your Verizon account as a feature, as the "Connected" status message you're seeing could simply be Google's RCS network, which iPhones don't necessarily use.

What did they do to fix it?! I've had this problem for months now, since Apple enabled RCS. Since that went live, RCS group texts with iphones in my family fail or take a long time to deliver (15 min to a couple hours). Somethign is broken on the back end.

I'm having issues with RCS since Apple turned on RCS. Now all my family members' iPhones can group chat just fine as always, but my Android does not receive any of their messages. It used to be delayed, then work for a while, then longer delayed, then days where I get nothing, no now my phone (after reinstalls, cache clearing, reboots, etc) won't even sent RCS. It never says "RCS Message" before you stop typing (just "Text Message", and never appears to "think about it" or try to negotiate RCS, even though in Settings it says RCS is connected in green. I'have had Tier 1 AND Tier 2 look at this and now it's escalated to whatever is next (T3 / engineering I hope). I'm still on ANdroid 12 final build - it used to work just fine with this build but now I'm wondering if behind the scenes it's been blacklisted for RCS.

Doesn't help that I've been in this house for 5 years but Verizon has yet to provide a decent signal anywhere on the west side of town. It's horrible. In 2020 their suggestionw as just to leave and pick another carrier!

I'm not exactly sure what they did to fix it, I had received a reply from vzw_customer_support and then they connected with me in private messages . Hopefully they reply to you and make a fix for you.

I have been having the same problem for about a week now. I've called Verizon 3 different times and spend a total of 2 1/2 hours with 5 different people, 2 of them in the Tech 2(?) group. Nothing has resolved the issue! yet.And i'm getting extremely frustrated!!!

I am having the same issue and I use my phone for work, I have been missing so many work texts that it is becoming a problem. This issue started almost 2 weeks ago, I have changed the message app I use reset all setting and yesterday went into a Verizon store to get help. The gentleman who helped me was great! Combed through everything he could think of until we called customer service. That person was not great. That person tried to upsale me to a different plan, ignore what the store guys were asking him to do (reset something I can not remember what the guys said they wanted exactly) then when he went to reset my phone he completely disconnected me from service - could not reach my husband for the "second verification" after I had told him he would not because he was at work and he is not available. So when we were transferred to his supervisor- I wont say he hung up on us but I will say the call was lost and he did not recontact the rep who was working with me. So I had NO service at all at this point my phone was completely disconnected. It was very unhelpful, and there is probably still a case open for me because he helped solve nothing only made it worse.

Thankfully the gentlemen at the store were able to restore my service but I ended up leaving there without solving the issue. I told them I would either be back today or I would call customer service myself. I can not send and or receive some group texts and need help.

I have a Samsung S22 ultra and have been having the same issue. When my friends and I all use a group chat, if more than 3 or 4 are sent to me in a minute, they all get stuck as "attachments" that dont download. I have tried turning on and off RCS chat, restarting my phone, turning on and off Airplane mode to no success.

So I worked with your rep for over 3 hours, and all that happened was I restarted my phone a few times, deleted a group chat with over 10 years of history to it with each time being told "This will fix it," and not only is the problem still there, but it has gotten worse. It used to take 15 messages in a row to make it so I would stop sending and receiving texts in a non-rcs group chat, but now its 10. I dont think I've seen a better ad for every carrier other than Verizon than this bug + my experience with your support team. The only reason I didn't reply sooner is because I was still so angry about having to delete a group chat me and my best friends started in college, I couldn't stop from swearing repeatedly, which may cause others to ignore my comment as just some one who wants to cause problems.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the Service Rep ghosted me. No "I'm not sure whats wrong at this point," no "this issue will require more research," and no "I'm sorry we couldn't resolve this issue." Just complete radio silence for at least 30 minutes of my checking to see if they were there before I had to go to bed for work the next day.
