The latest system update #42 loaded on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra on 1/28/25. As a result I can no longer get or send texts or calls unless I am connected on the WIFI

If your S22 now refuses to work unless it's on WiFi, I suspect it is the infamous hardware issue the S22 generation has, where after some random period of time - seems to be around 2 years for most - the flex antenna and charging port board go out and have to be replaced before the phone will work again. These parts are cheap and there are even YouTube videos showing how to do the repair yourself, but otherwise ought to be what a repair shop wants to charge for labor.
