Activating new eSIM overseas

From reading another thread in these forums and also looking elsewhere on the internet, there appears to be no way to activate a new Verizon eSIM if a Verizon customer is outside of the US. This is rather concerning, as stuff happens all the time and if someone needed to buy a new phone while abroad, they'd be out of luck trying to get their Verizon number activated on the replacement phone?

I guess if you have a physical SIM card, that could be placed into a replacement phone, but the latest generations of iPhone are eSIM only as an example.

Hello Harry, thanks for the reply. I am not abroad, and my phone doesn't use an eSIM either. However, there is another thread from a different customer who is in a real dilemma because they are outside the US and won't be back for some time. Their phone broke and when they tried to get their Verizon number going on the replacement phone they purchased, nothing is working to get the new eSIM going. I do not know if there is a way to transfer an existing, active, Verizon eSIM to a replacement phone while abroad, or why this process wasn't done for the other customer.

Verizon reps have reported elsewhere that physical SIM cards cannot be shipped overseas. So, if a customer has to get a replacement phone and doesn't have a actual SIM card, then there is nothing that can be done to get their Verizon line going?
