Phone issue

I'm soon to be a ex-verizon customer. When I went to buy my current phone which I do not like. I was told I would get $1,000 for my old phone. That left a little under 900 left to pay. I was told I had two options one to pay it off now or two I could pay the phone over 5 years. I did not have the $900 at the time so I said I will pay over 5 years. Now I want to go ahead and pay my phone off. But it says I owe $1,066. That can't be correct. So I called them. Their customer service person told me that I was lied to and that the $1,000 credit would be over the same period And if I wanted to pay off my phone I would be losing the rest of my credit. I couldn't believe it. I asked to talk to a manager and I did a girl named Jews according to her. And she told me yes that's how it was. So I'm going to save for a couple of months and pay off this phone and I'm leaving verizon. I don't expect this to be allowed to be posted but I wanted people to know. I'm going to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau as well. I hope no one else has to go through this experience. Verizon has the worst customer service too

The promo credits are applied monthly over the course of the agreement, and paying off the device automatically would mean losing any remaining credits. It appears you did not read anything that you signed when you purchased your phone and trade it in your old phone. And that you don't understand that these trade-in deals are offered by all three carriers. These trade-in deals are * never a lump sum *

Your old phone is worth absolutely nothing to Verizon or AT&T or t-mobile. Those trade-in phones go to a completely third-party business called Assurant mobile which pays a book value to Verizon / at&t/t-mobile which may be pocket change.

The obvious question should be, then why would Verizon give you a $1000 off a $1,900 phone if trading in your old phone was only worth " book value" of as little as $35.

Simple! They get to tie you to them for 36 months and during those 36 months you pay for service on an unlimited data plan.

Your installment payments on your $1,900 phone or divided into 36 payments of $53. Bill credits that are also divided over 36 months, so every month you pay for your service, you pay for your part of the installment, and Verizon pays $27.78 of your $53 installment each month. If you read your bill, and bills for the past few months you will notice that Verizon credits your account every month.

And again you were given paperwork when you purchased your new phone and tried it in your old phone that tells you all this. Information is published on Verizon's website about how these trade-in deals work. For that matter information is published on other service providers websites about how these deals work. If you sign something and did not read it, that is your neglect. You should never sign something that you have not read. And if you did your trade-in in person in a Verizon store, you were provided with a receipt that guaranteed your trade-in value and the receipt had wording at the bottom which described exactly how it worked -again

That is incorrect. I never received any paperwork from verizon. I talked to somebody on the phone. They told me they would be giving me $1,000 for my old phone. They offered to let me pay off this new phone for $800 some odd dollars or I could pay overtime. I told them I would pay overtime. Thank you for commenting on something that you have no clue of what you're commenting about but it is not necessary. I had traded in a phone previously and got the full amount and bought off the phone. I don't really care what it says on the web page or anywhere else. What I'm talking to a customer service rep and they tell me something I assume it's to be true. I do not assume they are lying to me. In the future when dealing with Verizon I will assume they are lying to me.

Lol. People that work for Verizon are clearly identified as such. These offers are public on Verizon's website. They're exactly the same as the offers on AT&T's website and T-Mobile's website..

You absolutely would have signed some kind of a purchase agreement whether it was e-signed online or in store.

And there would have been some kind of documentation for your trade in in order for you to receive $1,000 off your $1,900 phone over 36 months.
