error 5a - the mac address on the back of the extender needs to be added to your account. It took DAYS, but i finally found that if you call tech support, ask for tier 2 tech support (make that INSIST) and they can add the mac address to your account and get it up and running.

update: the next day we had all sorts of issues - no internet! messages like "network status - wifi does not have a valid ip config". A few more hours of plugging, unplugging, restarting .....fingers crossed, it seems ok at the moment....but I would not try to install one of these again unless I had a week's vacation ... a great project for a masochist.
