I'm experiencing a very peculiar problem with my Fios Extender.
I had Fios Installed 3 years ago along with one Extender. The main Router is in the basement and is connected to several ethernet cables that are connected to various ethernet outlets throughout the house. The Extender is connected through an ethernet cable through a wall outlet on the first floor. I am able to connect my game console to both the Fios Router and the Extender via WIFI and ethernet cables without any issues.
I recently added a second Extender on the second floor of my house. There are no ethernet outlets on that floor but there are coax outlets, so this second Extender is connected to the main Router via a coax cable. I have connected my PS5 Pro to this second Extender with an ethernet cable. The problem is, every time I turn on the PS5 Pro the network connection instantly fails, and then after about 20 seconds it connects normally and I get normal speed. While 20 seconds may not seem like a big deal, it's getting very frustrating having to see it try to connect, fail, and then reconnect EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn it on. It's also not staying connected with I put the device to sleep because it doesn't download updates in sleep mode like it's supposed to - which means I have to turn it on and wait for it to download big updates.
Thing is, it seems to connect to the extender with WIFI without this issue. I could just connect it with WIFI but I get lower speeds and it defeats the purpose of having the second Extender there. I have an Apple TV also hardwired to this second Extender and don't experience this issue - it's just connected when I turn it on. I tried to rule out that it's an issue with the console, but I'm able to connect it in the basement and first floor of my house with an ethernet cable and don't experience this issue - it only happens with this second Extender that's connected with the coax cable.
Is there some setting I can change on the extender? Any idea what could be causing this? It's driving me nuts! Thanks in advance.
