My dad passed away at the end of March. As a result, after 8 years with Verizon, I forgot to pay the bill in time in the middle of all the chaos. When I remembered, I sent the payment in the middle of April, so was about two weeks late. On the same day the payment was credited to the account, the account got suspended! We called them and told them we have paid and the service was restored. To our surprise, we got charged a $50 “restoration fee”! I called last week and explained the situation. We got another email notification today that our account will be suspended now because the restoration fee is overdue!!! Can someone explain to me why a company should even suspend an account after 2-3 weeks of the due date, especially if customers are going through a challenging time?? Why our account got suspended on the day the payment was received?? How in the world you cannot give a one time courtesy credit in rare situations like this?? And now threatening us again with another suspension??
