I've received a ton of bills in the mail and I am not a Verizon customer. My local police department has already reached out to your team, but this is now on my credit report.
Is this a joke?
I know that I would share your concern if the same had happened to me, sjhentges. I am glad that you have already worked with your local police department regarding this. It sounds like you'll also need to be in contact with our Fraud Prevention Team. You can get started with a claim here: https://www.verizon.com/about/account-security/overview
You can file that fraud claim online and a member of our Fraud Prevention Team will contact you to help.

From what you're describing, if you've never been a Verizon customer, but now bills from them have gone to collections and are on your credit report, then someone impersonated you to fraudulently get service. I'd report this to an identity theft recovery service such as IdentityTheft.gov for assistance along with filing a fraud report using the link the Vz rep gave in their post.
