Callers receiving warning to hang up when calling me

I just switched to Verizon last week and, since then, a few people on my contacts list (iPhone 15 Pro Max) are hearing a recording stating that they have reached a phone number that is likely a s**m and they should hang up

I can still send/receive texts from these contacts and I can call them without a problem

Is this a known issue? Has anyone here dealt with this?

This is definitely a strange occurrence and we don't want this to keep being an issue. Do you know if the people calling you are also Verizon customers? Does it happen every time they call you?

I haven't seen this reported before in the forums, but what I'm guessing is your number was being spoofed and was reported as spam/fraudulent. Would use a search engine to look up "what to do if my number is being spoofed" if this is a number you've had for a while. If you got a new number when joining Verizon, I'd ask for a different phone number.

Hello Jesse - the people on my contact list that I know of that are having this issue are not Verizon customers

However, I do not know if people that are not on my contact list are hearing that message

I've had this number for years and just switched to Verizon (from T-Mobile)

I just spent over an hour on the phone with Verizon support -- reset my phone, deleted the eSim and added it back, deleted voicemail then added it back -- still having the same issue -- the Verizon tech said they have never heard of anyone having this issue

I can call these people - it is when they call me that they hear a recording informing them they are trying to call a number associated with spam and they should hang up immediately

UPDATE:

It appears that everyone that receives the weird recording when calling me is a non-Verizon customer

So, right now, it appears that they only calls that get through on my phone are from other Verizon customers

Since it is only non-Verizon customers who are hearing this recording, that means that people elsewhere have reported your number as spam to their carrier (all carriers have a process in place for this). Which means someone has been spoofing your number to do robocalls or sc*ms. Short of changing your phone number, here's what I found on Google regarding what to do:

Among other things, you can report the number spoofing to the FCC at the website listed under step 5 when you expand the list at the top.
