Short story: I'm trying to get into my verizon account, but I can't because my phone is no longer working so I can't access my 2-factor authentication.
Whole Story: I purchased a Google Pixel 7a phone from a physical verizon store back in February 2024, and last week the battery became alarmingly swollen, and has since been removed. Google has asked me to provide a proof of purchase. I have an e-mail from Verizon saying my receipt is ready, but I can't access it because I can't log in to verizon without a functioning phone, and my phone has no battery.
To make things worse, my efforts to contact Verizon via chat failed, as to actually talk to an agent, I need to be logged in (and I can't log in, and, no unhelpful bot, the problem is not that I've forgotten my password).
Then to try to login to this community, I tried to reset my password, and that failed. So I'm also operating on a brand new account here.
Now, the core problem here is not Verizon's fault (aside from presumably unknowingly selling my a phone with a battery that turned out to be dangerous, but really, that is Google's fault), but not having some way for people to work through and verify their account to get access in exactly this situation is problematic to say the least. What should I do.?
