Pricing

Every time I talk to someone about their pricing, they pay less than me. I call verizon. Now I find they’re advertising a price for better than what I have for half my price and then I log in and the price FOR ME is even HIGHER than what I’m paying?!

I’ve been with you over a decade and this is how I’m treated? Time to move on.

Hi, there are a few things I'm wondering about:

-Are you on a very old legacy plan? If so, what's going on is everyone who is postpaid ends up paying in about the same ballpark for service, because the network is the network, but your old plan was structured for a time when phones weren't the mini computers they are today. So you end up paying a bunch and not getting much at all and it would be better to upgrade to a current plan.

-While there are many discount carriers out there, they are all piggybacking off one of the "big 3" carriers by renting network space from one or more of them. It's cheap because they don't have as much overhead with not running a network of their own, but the downside is you will always be at the bottom of the network priority chain on the towers because you are not a direct customer of the network owner(s).

-If you only have one line, yes, it's unfair that those of us with just one line have to pay full price, while people with multiple lines get a discount, but that's an industry practice.

-Bills being unusually high could be due to perks and subscriptions you aren't really using hanging out in your account, which you need to cancel. I've read of people accidentally subscribing to the monthly international service plan ($100/month) and not realizing it for quite a while as an example.

I’ve called periodically to find this out and always get the same answer, “you have the best plan and price.” So I’ve paid about $90/mo for some variation on unlimited for as long as I can remember. I’ve been on Smartphones for a very long time as well. Blackberry to iPhone 1 and continued to upgrade them.
