TravelPass question

We currntly have the Unlimited Welcome plan which is supposed to include Canada and Mexico for data and messaging. Got that.

I added the Travel Pass perk (at $10.00 a line) for 2 lines for this month, giving each line 3 days data/messaging in countries around the world. On the Travel Pass pages, Canada and Mexico are listed at regular $6 a day, most, if not all, the other countries are listed at $12 a day.

We used our phones in Mexico last year and all worked well, and there were no surprise charges for data or anything. We are soon traveling via cruise ship, 3 ports inMexico, then Costa Rica, Panama, and Aruba. Will the TravelPass 3 days cover us? Or will they be used in Mexico and then we are charged for the other 3 countries? Since Mexico is already covered, I'm thinking we'd still have our 3 days to use when we arrive in Costa Rica. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!!

PS-I did an AI chat that said we'd be good with 3 days since Mexico was already covered by our plan. I just want to be SURE, and hear from anyone that has been in a similar situation!

Welcome back to the forums, SuzyQ! I'm prepaid, so things work a little differently for me, but it's my understanding if you are outside the US, if you turn on your phone it will activate a Travel Pass session for that country you're in. If you go to another country within the same day, it would start a different Travel Pass session for the other country.

Cruise ship coverage is a different animal not covered by Travel Pass at all. You'd have to use Cruise Daily Pass while in international waters, or check with the cruise line as to what sort of internet access package they offer.

There may or may not be service in Aruba, as there is a big thread elsewhere in the forums from others reporting they could not get service while in Aruba regardless of what network their device was connected to. Makes me think an agreement with whatever service provider in Aruba and Verizon expired, and a new deal has to be negotiated.

If you are NOT under a contract, something to consider is upgrading your service plan to Unlimited Ultimate for a month, as Unlimited Ultimate has a built-in modified version of the monthly International Service Plan included in it (the main difference is the data allotment is 15 gigs instead of 20). If you are currently under contract though, don't do this because it will break your contract.
