I am not a Verizon customer. However, someone has used my email address to sign up for a Verizon account. Now I'm getting emails stating that "my" account is past due, and that "I" must pay $120.07 in order to keep "my" service from being cancelled. I'm 99.9% sure these emails are not $k@ms, as this person has also used my email address in other places, including his doctor's office, various online purchases, and AT&T. I don't know if it's a confused person who can't remember his own email address, or a deliberate attempt to dodge debts. Either way, I need these emails to stop.
I've repeatedly tried contacting Verizon about this, but there doesn't seem to be a way for a non-Verizon customer to reach anyone. Both the phone number and the online chat are handled by "robots", and both want my Verizon account number before letting me proceed. Saying (or typing) "real person" or "representative" does nothing. Obviously I cannot enter an account number, because I'm not a Verizon customer. I've also tried responding to the emails, but they bounce. Blocking the emails did no good. They still come through. Changing my email address isn't an option, because I use it everywhere, plus I've had it since GMail started in 2004. I like my nice, tidy, short email address, and want to keep it.
I'm at a loss here. Is there someone with Verizon that can help get this straightened out? Again, I'm 99.9% sure these emails are not $k@m$.
(Okay, since when is "$k@m$" a "bad word? It won't let me post. Geez!)
