I recently upgraded both my iPhone and Apple Watch through Verizon. While activating my new iPhone went smoothly, I encountered significant difficulty when attempting to activate cellular service on my new Apple Watch.
During the activation process, the verification text was sent to the number associated with my watch. By design, I cannot access those verification texts since I use NumberShare. I spoke with Verizon Support and they scheduled a follow-up call with me but did not call at the appointed time, leaving the issue unresolved.
After spending time on the forums and internet it looks like Verizon’s fraud-prevention policy prevented verification texts from being sent to my main number when trying to make additional changes, such as activating another device.
This policy seems unreasonable. It effectively blocks legitimate customers from completing device activations on their own accounts. To make matters worse, Verizon Support does not follow through
I would appreciate clear guidance on how to move forward. Is there any way for Verizon to facilitate the activation of my Apple Watch now, without my having to wait arbitrarily?
