So, lots of us are having trouble with our CR1000A routers suddenly rebooting. The help desk seems oblivious of this ("I've never heard of that happening"). The logs show kernel panics, so clearly there's a bug in the firmware. Either resources are being used up, a memory fault, or poorly handled loop or race conditions.
Near as I can figure the root cause, for me at least, is that my wi-fi signals are weak and so the router is constantly reassociating connections. This seems to overwhelm the dnsmasq, and possibly even raising the internal temp unnecessarily.
This post is meant first to confirm: It's not just you, it's real, and a replacement CR1000A probably won't do much. Others have noted that buying their own router solved their problem, which would make sense. I might be at that point. I want to first try to relocate the router, but not an easy task in my case.
So my other reason for posting is to ask: Has anyone else solved their problem by simply relocating their router? And has anyone done anything with the router configuration (such as defining static IPs) that helped?
