I just received an email from Verizon advising that my monthly bill will increase by $33.00. I am a Verizon customer for some 18 months now, and when I signed up I was told my bill would remain stable for three years.
I called Verizon, and the CSR advised that my bill did not change but that a discount I received expired. Apparently, the Verizon people do not see this as a change in price and their playing with words is a convenient way to increase rates while hiding behind some word play. To me, this is nothing short of deceptive pricing bordering on gross dishonesty. To rub salt into the wound, Verizons price even with the removed discount remaining is higher than their competitor pricing.
Since the CSR I spoke with did not seem inclined to make the slightest effort to find a solution, I will almost certainly make a change in the coming days.
Shame on you Verizon
