How do I switch my phone number from an iPhone 7Plus to an iPhone 15 Pro Max?

I bought a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro Max to replace my iPhone 7 Plus that is being increasingly unsupported by Apple and by apps. Everything transferred great, like magic, except moving the phone number. The 7Plus only has a physical sim card. Do I have to call Verizon customer services or do I have to physically go to a Verizon store to move my number to the new phone?

You would need to get an eSIM for the iPhone 15 since newer iPhones are eSIM only. Usually this involves scanning a QR code to download an eSIM.
